The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Oh ok, well if the story is great I don't mind. I loved spice and wolf and steins gate, im just trying to find something similar.

Clannad and Clannad AS are some of my favourite animes of all time, (I own several versions of it and spent way to much on it over the years).

I wouldn't say that they are like Spice and Wolf or Steins Gate though (both of which are good too) but it is a very good balance of drama and comedy and is quite rare in that it follows characters after they left school rather than being in one or the other. KyoAni fixed the balance of drama and comedy in this series compared with Air and Kanon that they released before it.

not random they abit a comedy/romance/slice of life mix in them, I know they are not 100% like clanned /spice and wolf but they are close to being like them.

Ummm, no not really. Things like School Rumble and Negima are not like Clannad, Spice and Wolf or Steins Gate at all. They are much more relatively simple light comedy. It would be a stretch to say Love Hina was and Suzuka is much more pure drama (and is poor compared with it's manga)

Bought some anime:
Clannad: complete series
Clannad Afterstory complete series collection

Hopefully its good, going by some reviews ive seen it should be :)

Just take my advice and never watch it with the English dub as it's a complete pile of garbage (I only watched one scene, and completely hated what had been done).

Yeah, I second that. Please don't ruin it by watching it in English. To be honest, you should always watch it subbed unless it's like a series like Hellsing, that had a pretty good English dub.

The quality of english dubs are far better than they where 15 years ago, I've never seen the anime your talking about but surely the dub is no worse than Garzey's Wing. That dub is so bad its funny! but its a pretty bad show regardless, you wouldn't think it came from the same mind and Mobile Suit Gundam lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWru5o07j_I

As I was saying dubs are quite good now, i needed one for Spice and Wolf as I have a slow reading speed but it very dialogue heavy, Black Lagoons is great as is your aforementioned Hellsing Ultimate. Gundam Unicorns, FMA:B, Stien's Gate etc all had great dubs as well . Personally I think there's a lot of snobbery when it comes to dubs from large parts of the anime community

Please, the dubs for Spice and Wolf is like aids in my ears it's so bad, it's just sounds like some teen from california.

The dubs for Hellsing Ultimate is really good though as well as any dubs from the late 80's to early 90's when Anime was dark and gothic.

Most English dubbed anime is poor cause its about the cheapest VA work in the market place. And strong American accents aren't always appropriate, unless you are American (or been Americanised). :P

And I don't think the quality is any better than it was in the early days, it's always been a mixed bag, there's just a lot more of it these days.

20 years ago, you got maybe 2-5 hours worth in a good month in the UK market and 10-20 hours in the US. These days you get more than that released in a week you lucky sods. :)

I quite liked the dub on Full Metal Panic but generally they grate on my ears with their american accents which just seem wrong in the context of watching a japanese product. The other issue with dubs can be that if you are already translating to english and in affect having to do a lot of editing in the process then there is the temptation to overly localise as well losing the subtleties of the original.

Also given that I am learning japanese it's better to be listening in that language for listening comprehension practice.

To expensive for my cup of tea really ... doesn't look too bad but I'm not really in a position to drop $75-$115 for a 24min OVA at the moment (I'd want a physical copy).
I doubt in the timescales that they will reach any of their stretch goals.

I'm not expecting much from the GitS live adaptation .....
