The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

tokyo ghoul 12 - train wreck ending to the series, seriously you'll understand when you watch it.

All I can say is they either better have episode 13 or season 2 at some point

yeah thats the last one of the series, pretty much all of the replies on myanimelist are the same.

I'm more upset about it being the last hunter x hunter this week too :(

Im getting really depressed watching some animes. They always end as its getting good or on a cliffhanger then they dont make any more. They expect you to just start reading the manga :(

Is hunter x hunter on hiatus again? Gonna suck having to wait years again
no this is the last episode, series finished from what I can tell, except maybe some ova's at some point.

Just like more tv series then, seems to be the way television works now, if it's good, building momentum or has a cliffhanger it doesn't stick around past season 1 lol

Seriously couldn't they just have made it a full 24 episode season instead of this stupid splitting the series into 2 seasons for no good reason, it's getting far too common for my liking. I could understand if they didn't leave it at the point they did but with how they left the episode that's just blooming daft.

No, they expect you to buy enough of the DVD/BD release of the first season in order for them to make enough profit to make it worth making a continuation.

Making anime is expensive, why make a 26 episode run when you can start with a single cour, see how that does, start making some money back on the media release and then if it's looking reasonable start making another cour later on. If you start by going for a large episode run and the series flops then you'll make an even bigger loss rather than just not making the continuation.

edit: Watched the fourth installment of GitS Arise earlier ... thought it was quite reasonable, admittedly I am biased as i really like GitS, but I do feel that these Arise OVAs could do with being more feature length in size. They just feel a bit rushed at times to me.

ot: two weeks on Tuesday I should be in Tokyo .... bouncebounceyay!

I don't have a problem with doing single cour runs so to speak, it's just how they decide to leave things which is annoying. In this case it's literally stopped half way through a major event (won't say anything for those that want to watch it).

It makes the end point on knights of sidonia look normal, even though it left a bit of a unfinished/open ending.

But that's just how any series where they hope to interest people enough into wanting to watch more has always worked whether it is anime or not ...

The bigger the cliff hanger the more desperate they are to get people to watch more ...

thats not what's happening here though... most people on myanimelist are annoyed at the way they ended it and are actually saying they won't touch the anime studio any more because of it, so the odds of a high dvd sales aren't exactly promising. Besides who would want to buy a dvd of a series that's literally half finished, it doesn't have a 'cliffhanger' ending, it literally stops half way through, totally ignoring the other events that are happening.

There's a difference between a cliffhanger and stopping mid flow but at the end of the day I'm not the studio that's ruining it's reputation. It's not like it couldn't do a full cour anime, they did/are doing beelzebub (something like 60 episodes), bleach and naruto, plus tokyo ghoul is being streamed on so it can't be in that bad state financially to rely on dvd sales. Plus if they can (possible fake) confirm season 2 a few days later the dvd sales aren't going to make a difference, they could have just done a 2 cour in the first place and not had this 'bad blood' from the fans of the show.

I wouldn't consider that they pay that much attention to what is being posted on sites such as myanimelist ... we're not their primary market anyway Japan is. Sure they'll license it to whoever for streaming and retail but that is likely to be less important to them than their releases in Japan.

You also find that the majority of people who say that they are not going to watch anymore, and are even going to avoid the studio, will actually still watch the second season and anything else put out by the studio which interests them in the same way that has happened since the beginning of time.

I don't expect them to take much notice either but I can't expect avid fans in Japan to feel much different, they're very passionate about their fav anime/manga...

It was.... Swear word

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, action end

What, you had the sound of the bitter wind blowing .... fitted quite well with the events ...

I finished watching Rail Wars today ... seemed to be quite a nice little series.

Boob Wars was great, loved it. Can't wait for next season. :D

Even though the last episode was pretty slow, I found it pretty nice to be honest, it was a nice way to wrap things up but I wish that Nana-chan had some more "accidents" with Takayama-kun.
