The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Hmm well unitedpublications seem to stock the complete series for £28. Although it says 7-10 days for delivery instead of immediate so I'm guessing what they do is import it over from the US once you place your order or something?

United Publications are based in the UK, so whatever they charge you wont be subject to any additional costs.
PlanetAxel is similar in that although they work out the US, they ship from inside the EU to you, so you only pay thier fixed costs rather than risking customs charges.

Basically yes, once you place your order with them then if they don't have it in stock in the UK then they order it and have it shipped to themselves as part of one of their bulk deliveries. They then have it shipped out to you from Kent via Royal Mail. This means that they get charged any import duty on the shipment to themselves and you don't as the shipment to you is just within the UK.

Yes it isn't immediate but it's not as if international shipping is either, (e.g. TRSI orders take ~2 weeks to get to me normally, usually due to a week in customs if they get caught up there). They are not the cheapest place to get things normally but I find them more convenient than the other options, (after the first order they'll happily ship to a non-credit card address and I don't have to think about Customs charges which can complicate deliveries to the office). Amazon US can be quite good for the beginner if you get a good deal on the item price as they do allow you to pre-pay Customs charges with some shipping options if you are paranoid.

If you haven't bought from abroad before I suggest reading the appropriate sections of the first post in the thread and think about whether you can playback the appropriate BD regions (if the disks are not A/B coded).

In related news ... yay! my R4 DVD release of Usagi Drop (anime) has shipped from Siren Video.

Decided to start watching naruto, never seen it before, im on episode 10 and i really like it so far. Naruto, is pretty cool and he seemed to mature a little already and he seems pretty good fighter...sometimes accidently. The only weak character is that pink haired girl, she likes sasuke and seems a very poor fighter well actually she aint had a fight yet.
But yeah ill keep watching it till the end, im sure in the 200 odd episodes the characters will develop into the story more, and they will be probably be badassess:D
After i finally get through them ill subscribe to crunchroll and watch shippeden in 720 HD:D

Finished watching the first season of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere this evening. I actually enjoyed it more than I originally expected too.

The series is your usual sort of futuristic sci-fi fare with a mixture of action and comedy with an interesting cast of characters and world set up. Where the series falls down a bit so far is on it's pacing. The best part of half of the series is replaying the same day from different points of view to set up various characters and allow you place them in the world and the story and understand the back stories and relationships. The rest of the series still happens over a very short period following this and still feels like, whilst there is progression of the story, the whole thing is merely an introduction to what is to come next, (which is season 2, due later this year).

Despite this I liked the series; the characters were good and the story and setting all combined to drag you in. Whilst the first series was short on elapsed content it was reasonably fast moving and was enjoyable to watch. Yes there was some weaknesses (like the main "ship" looked a bit unfinished from the rendering front at times) but I look forward to seeing what happens next ...

I have an internal blu ray player in my pc. I'd assume it would play back most regions.

I wouldn't assume that at all seeing as there are tools such as AnyDVDHD which have functions which include removing region locking to allow playback of disks from other regions. It is something you should confirm, along with the region status of the disks as some are A/B instead of just A, prior ordering.

What I can say is that my copies of the first two series are A/B (at least that is what is indicated on the box ... wouldn't be the first time _that_ was wrong though) and my copy of the third series indicates it is just A, (note that mine are the original BD release not the later Anime Classics release).

Can't honestly say I'm a big fan of Anime but my daughter is a massive fan of the Wolf's Rain series and the boxset has almost been worn out by now. Xmas past we managed to get her the original ('was' mint as well) artbook from Japan because she loves drawing the characters so much, this leads me onto asking is there anymore wolf / type based anime out there? Cheers.

About the only other wolf anime that instantly springs to mind is Princess Mononoke which has some huge wolves.
However it's not a "wolf" anime in the same way as Wolf's Rain.

It's slightly odd, but (from memory) the Japanese don't seem to cover wolf/werewolf stuff anything like as much as Western fiction does, I think because they've got plenty of other beasties to choose from:)

TRSI have all but sets 4 & 5 (of 7) listed as in stock for Inu Yasha, United Publications have all the sets listed as orderable. (I haven't looked on Amazon (US or UK)). I would be slightly concerned over availability as it's a Viz title and has been around for a while.

That gives you 167 episodes and there is also a boxset of the four films around too.

The final series is licensed by Viz and is due a release at some point this year (although hasn't been solicited yet).

Thanks a lot for all that. :)

memyselfandi

That's shorter than I remember :)
Mind you I've never seen it, as it was too long for me to face (I may try and get it sometime soon though).
Although I say that as someone who got all of Ranma 1/2 when it was released in the budget sets.

Bleh, was all prepared to watch some more stuff this evening and my av amp seems to have gone pop which is a good way to sour your mood heh

:(
Do you know if it's repairable or is it likely to be terminal?

I've not seen it myself either, but the episode set numbers seem to match the wikipedia article for number of episodes. To be honest it doesn't really seem to be my sort of series ... I could be wrong but I have other things I want to get which preclude buying 7 boxsets at ~£24 a time!

I can't say that I have really got into very long series; Naruto, Bleach (finishing soon apparently), One Piece and Dragonball never really interested me, I think I've seen the first two seasons of the first two titles. The longest series I think I own is Maison Ikkoku and I haven't seen more than the first series of that :)

The final series which hasn't been released yet is ~26 episodes so would take the total over the 190 episode mark.
