The Apple HE store - Full prices and details in here. *prices correct as of 15/06/10*

a dell laptop with i7 quad core and 7 hour battery life for £500 ? where ?

I don't think my 15" MBP 2011 has once lasted 7 hours. Maybe around 3-4. It's currently at 96% (with stupidly low screen brightness) with 3.5 hours remaining. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

I have a few questions, sorry if these have been answered before.

I only graduated a month ago but still have my ID card, is it worth going into an Apple store to try and get the discount still? I have an alumni ac.uk email address as well, and I hear these are used to verify.

Also I think everyone can get onto the Further Education store here?

What are the rules about buying here and getting 6% off a macbook air?

Thanks

Not for me it's not. It's about aesthetics, warranty, company, design. Hardware is something I skim over (Processor, memory + resolution).

That's kind of my point. The additional cost for the top end hardware isn't worth it and that's why I'd only ever buy one of the cheaper mac's.

Yes, but the MBA's you don't have a choice if you want faster hardware you have to pay for it it's not upgradable from point of sale. You get me?

@MSTRBKR your not allowed to post links like that to Apple discount as your meant to access it inside the college/university.

My 13" MBP had about 6 hours battery life when I first got it... Had it about a year and a half now and I can still squeeze between 4 and 5 hours our of it!

Pretty good going I think.

I do but you said you don't care about hardware? If you want the looks, customer service, OS etc, then you just buy the lowest spec machine. I think that the prices for those machines (with student discount) are justifiable however the cost of hardware upgrades are quite simply shocking.

Not on the Apple products as regardless of what model they are all fast.

Going to be getting an 11" MBA soon. I'm trying to work out what the £49 telephone support actually is? This may sound silly, but how would I report a problem in the second and third years if I didn't select the telephone support? Take it into a shop?

for repairs etc its damn easy online , you can either book a time slot at your local 'genius bar' or you can answer online questions/faq type thing which usually results in you fixing your problem or them sending a courier

if theres no apple store nearby then you might have an official apple repair replace who will do repairs/replacements and charge the costs to apple. i took mine to one in newcastle before they got the apple stores

Can anyone confirm if this price is still the same please from a post a little while back?

And does it come with 3 year warranty if purchased online? Cheers.

13-inch Macbook Air : 128GB - £945.60
1.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
processor
4GB memory
128GB flash storage
Intel HD Graphics 3000
OSX Lion

That is not a true HE URL you can access that from the link on the apple website.

The 15% etc discounts take a bit more digging. But I see no reason why that link shouldn't be allowed as its on the apple website

That URL is FE discount, why would Apple want everyone purchasing at discount?? It's the other discount as everyone would be using it won't they?

Yep still that price and if it's purchased with HE you get the 3 hardware warranty.

Brilliant thank you. Live in Essex/London so surrounded by Apple stores.

One other question whilst I'm here. How best is it to connect to an external monitor? Order a Mini display port to DVI from Apple (looks like I get HE discount in too), or just a cheap generic one? Or even a min display port to HDMI (although these don't receive very good reviews)
