That link works outside network, anyone can use it orders are randomly selected to provide proof you do not need to use your university email address. Also if you google a bit (not very hard) you will find that someone has put up all the educational store listings (you only need to change something (HINT) in the URL to see a different store.
Not sure if it has been pointed out previously but will state (so excuse if repeating). If you buy in an apple store you only have to show some form of ID etc to enable you to purchase it. For some reason when buying in a store you obtain the full 15% discount, so a 13" MBP standard is £849.15 (whereas online you get 13.9939% being £859.20) and that goes on everything in the store that is discounted by that amount.
With regards to the service and telephone support, if purchased online you get 3 years worldwide service and 1 year telephone support, upgrading will only provide you with the telephone support.
If you purchase a machine in a store you will only get 1 year WW service and upgrading with Care will give you the full 3 year phone and 3 year warranty.
The only other thing I would add is check you MBP carefully, I just received my new one and they had to replace it three times because the first was damaged, the second didn't have the screen hinge aligned correctly and the third (well fingers crossed)...
