The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

Test it out with a sesh tonight on the 270X... you must experience the new fluctuations in BF4... It is nice to not be blinded every 3 seconds by a flashbang on the other side of the map... but the rubber bullets need sorting!

I suspect the lag is just the normal patch stuff - it was the same with the winter patch. I'm sure by Friday it will die down.

Was on the CTE reddit and saw the moans about the issues with Jet's. These issues were not in the CTE final release so the thought is that it could be cause by mismatches between the server side patch level (vs. CTE) and the client side patch. I would have thought that with each release servers would be forced to update their patch level but apparently not.

EDIT: Here is the response from tiggr in relation to the Jet/Dusting issues:

Hi, yes we have seen this being the case. There are a few things that can be the reason for it here.

The most probable one is the fact that servers are not performing the way they should under the stress of the release (more players play the first 24 hours of any release). We are monitoring if there is anything going on there that we can fix.

On the other hand there has always been dusting (and always will be) - the AMOUNT of dusting is in direct relation to how the server, and both clients in this case is doing in terms of update rates.

Higher tickrates will improve this significantly (the only real thing that can improve the issue) - but we are also looking at making sure that effects doesnt get triggered when the server doesn't agree to the hit.
TD;DR - this is not hit registration - its the server saying you're not hitting (your target is not where your client thinks it is), and this seems to be directly related to server performance, which on release day is always worse than normal.

Hur dur indeed. Well that sucks the big one. EVGA are good though, so you can expect a quick turn around if it is indeed your GPU. Any chance you could swap with someone for a few days to make sure it's the GPU? You could always buy a 970, use it and then DSR.

Or buy an 970, get the rma'd 970 and have uber 970 SLI along with a GSYNC screen.

Dunno yet, will speak to EVGA later and see if the do an express one where you get the replacement GPU before you send yours off.

I'm not going through the kerfuffle of uninstalling my 780+drivers to install a 270X and drivers, to then uninstall in all again.

I'll just use the iGPU and watch netflix & chill.

It will be interesting to see what KFA do with my 780 seeing as it's the 6GB version. Not sure a 970 with 3.5GB useable RAM can be seen as a direct replacement. Might try and fight for a 980 and say the extra power instead of the larger VRAM to compensate.

Surprised you havent heard back yet, it's been ages hasn't it?

The night mode in Hardcore mode is actually quite enjoyable :)

I can imagine it being very campy. Lots of people sitting in a corner with a supressor and an INRV/FLIR.

Some of the dark areas look very dark, wonder how the l33t snipers get on now then.

It's not that bad, some people just sit at the back with a sniper which makes them easy to see with INRV/FLIR so easy to pick them off.

The rest just all go for the objective so works quite well, from the 2 games I played anyway :p

You played Hardcore?

Get out!

So when I quoted the chap who mentioned hardcore you just decided to chime in with a wholy different comparrison.

Oh chippy this is why you are noob.

I'm well up for trying the new maps, but can imagine a hardcore version of it would be very campy due to the never ended darkness and hiding spots on that map.

Haha was quite funny really, every spawn, you were there with your LAV, I'm calling transport hacks :p

kiwi and I have been honing our FLIR popup shooting ranges skills, it's just as good in daytime as night, and after this patch you can see a lot further (Although people only glow white within a certain range).

Like many things in BF, there are counters you can employ to foil the FLIR "wallhacker".

If you are running as engineer on foot, carry mines/slams, launcher of choice and hand flares. Use the hand flares to blind the FLIR user and to make your mines invisible, while panicking the driver with your rockets. Chances are they will either retreat or end up running over your mines. ;)

The hand flares will come in useful against smoke/invr infantry too.

Also use a suppressor if you are trying to hold a flag, staying off the map gives you a chance of taking out an entire squad instead of just the point.
(My minimap now takes up ~1/6th of the screen!)

I've only come up against competent hand flare users once, and they were a complete PITA!

Edit: would work well as a support with C4, ammo + hand flares as well, you could lay invisibly C4 tank traps (hidden by flares) and potentially lock down a flag against vehicles. Course it gets more complicated if the vehicles have some savvy infantry support as you'll get flushed out.

It's similiar! I know what I meant, unfortunately what I meant was completely different :D I should have mentioned that I didn't play on hardcore :p

Just imagine a darker and more sniper Zavod...

I've played plenty of Zavod Night Map on CTE and it's awesome. I don't think it really works with more than 32-40 players however as it kind of ruins the stealthy component.

It's more fun when you are really listening out for sounds as Hazard mentioned.

While we're on the subject of new maps the CMP is definitely my favorite. More of us need to get CTE as it's a better experience in my opinion (hit reg and level of play).

I'm not downloading CTE for all the Tea in the world, let alone China.

I'll wait for it to get released, whenever that may be.

Think he's been on the port again Josh :D Yeh was talking about CMP. For me it's worth the download but I like testing new stuff and don't really care if it breaks. It's actually been fun testing each iteration of the map from when there were not textures and the feedback was about size and layout of points to how it is now where we are looking at the look and feel and fine tuning.

Gameplay wise the map is super fun and very infantry oriented.
