I liked the Belgariad but thought that the Elenium and Tamuli books were better. Ray Feists Riftwar and Conclave of Shadows are excellent.

Have you read Faerie Tale by Ray Feist, if not give it a blast, it's excellent. Also Songs of Earth and Power by Greg Bear is a brilliant piece of fantasy.

Then there is the Sword of Truth saga by Terry Goodkind to consider also, and the Sword of Shannara and Word and the Void saga's by Terry Brooks, also worth reading.

i got put off reading by being force fed macbeth in school :(, but got a long plane journey to new york next week and decided to give it a go. i picked up world war Z and the zombie survival guide.

of the 3 books i have read, the rocks biography, mic foleys biography and macbeth, i would have to go with mic foleys biography :p

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Not exactly a barrel of laughs, but its the book I've re-read most. The film doesn't do the book justice.

Agreed. I've read a lot of books and was proud to say I finished every book I started.

But I struggled to finish The Road because it cut me up. As a result this ranks as the best book I've read. Devastating, awesome stuff.

McCarthy's Border Trilogy was great too.

American Psycho.

Probably one of the hardest books I've ever read.

Not because of the violence and things like the scene with the rats (lolz) but because of it being written in first person from the perspective of a loon who writes extended paragraphs on what brand of shoes, clothes and accessories every single person is wearing at each point in time. I swear it's like 70% of the book. It made me feel like I was going crazy!

The Catcher in the ..

nah, just kidding,

probably "One Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich", "Dead Souls", "The Outsider", "The Old Man and the Sea", and/or "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man".

I spend a lot of time on the web, and screen-facing, nice to get out and read a book from time-to-time.

Oh - and I should give honourable mention to the great trilogy of four books.
