What are yours? I'm going to allow a maximum of three, so its going to be tough.
For my ones I've gone back through my entire music collection and have selected the riffs which I think kick the most arse. Suprisingly, or not, I went back through many 'famous riff' bands such as Led Zepplin and AC-DC and certaintly couldn't find anything there that fitted the bill for me. Thinking about it, these are the riffs which make me want to pick up my guitar the most.
So here they are:
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine. Mmm, no further explanation is needed really. It makes me want to don a top hat lean backwards and look godlike to thousands of adoring (preferebly female) fans.
Steve Vai - Bad Horsie. An absolute monster, I can't normally stand Steve Vai but this riff sounds like a ******* tank. Its just so immence that I often tune my guitar all the way down just to play it.
Joe Satriani - The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing. Again, admittedly a downright embarrising cheese fest, but the intro riff bit is just perfectly kick arse when in its full swing. Forget the silly widdly bit, the intro riff is the best bit of this song by miles.
I find it quite humerous that two of my favourite riffs are actually types of music I really wouldn't want to associate myself with at all
