The boy who stole half-life 2

i can confirm from clan buddies and direct connect ;) that back in the day it was pretty standard to have 10Mbit connections up and down in Sweden

not sure on the name of the ISP but it was shortened to BBB

people in finland and iceland and other countries had good speeds as well

this was back in 2000/2001

and even tho we in the UK had crap connections in comparison the internet was hardly young back in 2003....

I can appreciate that, but that wasn't really my point.

Define "young" as well. That's probably what is creating this bother.

I certainly have a definition in my head referring to the speed end users got and the numbers of end users themselves (and hence its impact on piracy).

bredbandbolaget

and yes people in residential homes had 10/10mbit and 100/100mbit connections back when hl2 was leaked.

blueyonder launched 512k back in 2000.... 1mbit in 2004.

hl2 leak spread like wild fire and it was a few hours download at most for the majority

I played the leak and didn't think the game was worth buying..

Sure.. The platform was more important than they game anyway.

Also source noobs learn some recoil :(

Can't remember why, but I don't think I paid attention to this back then, probably partly because I wasn't online nearly as much. Only heard small mention about it since, so it's interesting to finally know, being a HL fan and all. Thanks for posting, was a good read.
