Lol, can't hurt to try it all!

The problem is I am finding there is FAR too much mumble jumble out there.

Person X says this is the way to do it.
Person Y says this product is best.
Person Z says that is even better.

Then you can get someone else to come alone with a whole new different solution.

I have no idea who is right or wrong anymore and the best way is just find out for myself. It's the first time I applied 3 layers of wax, normally just 1 and never waxed windscreen before so we'll see what happens when it rains eh? :p

If you're going to wax three times you have to think of it like painting a door, if you're using layers you have to let one dry/cure before applying the next otherwise all you're doing it smear around a jumble of non compatible products that probably won't even cure off or offer the desired effect.

You shouldn't really use filling polish on windscreens because of the silicon content, that in addition to wax will cause hazing on the screen and it'll reduce the effectiveness of your wipers.

I don't have a problem with trying things out but at least apply some methodology to the process because you've wasted and afternoon doing it wrong.

The method is trial and error :p

And it was dry before I applied the next layer of wax and I guess I'll see about the hazing on she windscreen next time it rains, which won't be long in this weather we are having.

I didn't say dry, I meant cure. It takes hours for the wax to properly bond to the surface. How long did you wait between waxes? I suspect it'll look okay, just save yourself the effort and use one wax/sealant in the future.

I just pray to God you didn't use tyre dressing on the treads of your tyres :p

It can at the same time, what possible point is there?

'Wow I used 3 different waxes and it looks great'

Which wax was best? You've no idea as you used 3 at once :p

Lol, that's the only down side that didn't cross my mind :p

Lol, like I said, he says one thing, someone else says another.

If you can point me to a controlled scientific test then I'm all ears. Right now, the wax is on and there's not much I can do until I clay it next time anyway.

Hence trial and error. If it doesn't work or no better than my previous washes then I'll obviously go back to the 1 layer way...I don't like putting on waxes for fun!

Thanks for the link though. :) food for thought!

For the windscreen I just wash it (usually twice*) and dry it.
Then apply RainX (The one that cleans aswell).
* - wash it twice to help remove old rainx

I used to RainX the wing mirrors but it doesn't do anything.
Use AG Glass Polish on the wipers too, you'll be surprised how much **** comes off the blades after you've washed them.

You could snow foam, with a high consistency that will remove the wax...

Having said that, you have 3x the amount of wax most have :p

Came home from work to find my neighbour cleaning his new (11 Plate) Astra 1.6 with 1 bucket, a sponge and a hose, nothing else...cringe. Not at the car, that's his choice!

And my clean triple waxed car :p
