Can anyone recommend a wheel cleaner that isn't a spray. My wheels are bbs RZ and unless I spray each spoke on both sides and in the joins I'm left with a patchy finish.

It seems wasteful to use that much spray if I could use a paste or gel that could be mixed and painted on.

Seems the weather is getting better...and people are buying cars

I've also just got a new car (metallic silver, less than 3 years old) and wanted to make sure I take good care of it. I've read a few pages back and wanted to summarise what I thought was best, hopefully people can chime in with their opinions. I'm a noob when it come to car cleaning.

1) Tires - Maguires Endurance or Chemical Guys Natural Shine Dressing (recommended by shauncr91)
2) Dashboard and instrumentation - Autoglym Interior Shampoo (can I use this on the clear plastic instrumentation?) or Poorboys Natural Look Dressing?
3) Washing - AG Bodywork Shampoo, Zymol Natural Car Wash? Maguires Gold Class? Chemical guys wash (recommended by Tinders). Snow foam only for those with a jetwash
4) Polishing and sealing/wax - Autoglym Super Resin Polish seems to get some good reviews? Is it best to do another sealing coat as some do? Collinite 845 gets mentioned? AF Tripple, FK 1000p and Sonax BSD (recommended by Tinders)
5) Cleaning stuff - mentioned earlier in the thread, microfibre wash mitt (Ken's, as above), a big soft microfibre drying towel (again Ken's above) and lots of sundry microfibres the wash mitt and drying towel for the initial wash and dry and then the microfibre cloth for applying the polish and sealant? Where is the best place to get these from?
6) Black outside trim - AF Revive? AG bumper snot (recommended by Tinders)

I've been reading about clay bars, is this something I should consider using?

3) I love Zymol Natural Car Wash. I tired the gold class megs stuff and hated it so give it away. I find on a black car that Zymol was very easy to rinse off

I feel like the only one who isn't completely sold on Meg's Endurance Gel, yes it lasts absolutely ages but it's a PITA to apply because it's so thick and it always ends up too glossy and oily looking.
I used to love it but now cant stand it... for the reasons you just stated.

ok not good!!!

Think I be raiding my local store this week if they going to stop selling it ;/
its only 5 or 6 pounds for a bottle

Autosmart duet or their autowash shampoo.

16 and 11 quid respectively for 5L of quality shampoo. Save your money and end up with a car as clean as what the expensive stuff would produce!

Ordered some Fine steel wool (was a bit confused over difference between fine and super fine for this application?) and some autosol - the tailpipes are the only thing that let my car down, one of them is turning gold too!

Does it take long to polish them back to shiny?

And how do I cut wire wool? I ordered 450g roll so I need to cut it?

Wire wool can be cut easily with scissors or simply pulled apart like cotton wool, the strands are very thin assuming you've bought appropriately fine stuff. Its wire but so fine its not strong at all.

Autosol is pretty good stuff, but how long it takes will depend on how bad the corrosion is. My experience is it takes much less time than you'd think, its good stuff.

Oh and be sure not to get any in your mouth.

Is this anygood for the price?

I have just finished cleaning my 14 year old golf car and want to be keeping it fairly tidy (dont want to put too much effort in as its rly old but enough to get it up to decent looking condition or even just cleaned)

Any other products people can recommend thats good for the price?

Doing plenty of motorway miles so car gents dirty very fast

All I can find is Zymol Autowash for £39!

I might try some Dodo wash next.

can you head to your local halfords just to check?

Think am going to cry a little if this product has been discontinue lol

Such a great shampoo and lush smell. Think am on a topical island every time I open the lid.

Get the Angelwax Bilberry cleaner, they started it ;)

New car washing is soo easy :D

Last weekend she got her first clean after delivery a week before then. Simply some Duet Shampoo and a coat of the mind blowing Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer, which everyone needs in their collection!!!!!!

I'm harping on about it as it's simply an amazing product, just have a look in the huge thread over on DW in the Wax/Sealant section.

Where do you get your Autosmart Duet from?
