Cleaned my blandmobile (I put off buying something much better as my step dad was selling this, not bad for £2k, it was a no brainer).

The paint was in pretty poor condition.
2 washes with megs gold class.
Clay bar body and wheels.
Auto finesse tripple body and wheels.
C2 sealant body and wheels.

It took me the best part of a day, which is arguably too much effort on a vectra but at least it will be easier to clean in future. I found the C2 sealant hard to work with. Unless I was using it incorrectly, it proved difficult to buff out and left smears where I didn't give it some serious elbow.

Gave the Clubsport a proper wash on Saturday - Wash, Iron Out, Tardis, clay cloth, wash, Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid x2, and then the other bits like wheels and glass.

Came into work today and my Sonax BSD and PNS are both sitting on my desk waiting for me :( Will have to wait a little while before re-doing the lot as I really can't be bothered :p

I'd strongly suggest against using product on fabric that isn't designed for it, something like Fairy will sud up far too much and be nearly impossible to completely dry out any time soon, this will most likely result in a musky smell and condensation in the car for a long time. Foaming upholstery cleaner is designed like it is for a reason :)

C2V3?

The smearing normally happens if there is too much product applied. If it does happen use a damp microfibre cloth and it will come straight off.

Best practise is spray on, wipe around with one MF cloth then remove the residue with another.

Need tips please!

So, I enjoy cleaning my motorbikes, and don't do a bad job if I say so my self. But I feel it's a totally different cleaning setup compared to cars. Such as I coat the bike in snow foam, ring, degrease, rinse, sponge wash, rinse, dry then ACF 50.

What would you guys suggest for car cleaning? I love autoglym shampoo, so will be sticking with that. Wax... Not a clue, how easy is it to use a clay bar? Worth it?

I will also use Bilt Hamber de greaser on the alloys. Do you guys suggest any tyre stuff?

In short, new to proper car cleaning, any suggestions/tips?

I see! Nice to know I'm using too much, it means my bottle will last longer :D

Just gone to wash the car and remove what I thought was mud, but it won't come off, it's all down the side of the car! I can pick it off with my nail but it would take until the end of time.

I can only think its discharge from a farm, like sheep dip mixed with crap. What's the quickest and easiest way to remove it?

Different hardness in clay bars, all easy enough to use. Make sure you get the lubricant. Definitely worth using and I used Race Glaze pre-wax cleanser to remove contaminants before waxing.

Used Race Glaze claybar and Meguairs...Race Glaze is a touch softer.

Waxes- lots of good ones about from about depending on how much you want to spend. I would avoid meguires and autoglym resin polish personally. I use Zymol Glasur.

Tyres..depending on the look you want.

Happy cleaning.

Gave the car a thorough clean on bank holiday Monday.

Rinsed
Turtle Wax Shampoo
Dried
Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer with Meguiars Clay Bar
Turtle wax Protect and Shine Wax

Then washed the wheels with bilberry wheel cleaner and then sealed with some poorboys wheel sealant.

First time using a clay bar, I was amazed at the grime coming off what I thought was a clean car! The clay was good at removing some dried tar spots I'd hesitated to pick off before and left the paint feeling like glass!
The wheels have come up very wheel and appear to be resisting the brake dust much better.

The turtle wax protect and shine required a LOT of buffing to get out by hand, may look at other alternatives.

I need to find a product for removing bugs squished to my front buffer, perhaps the only thing the clay bar couldn't remove.

Bilthamber is my usual choice, don't even need lube, water will do :)
Or the new G4 clay mitt's are meant to be really good, but I think they need lube/detailer.

Guy's can you spec me something to use to keep the interior of brand new 3 series clean? ive had my car 4 weeks now and ive just been vaccing it but dust is starting to settle etc now and i want to keep on top of things, i also would like to avoid using something that will take away the new car smell. I don't need something to deep clean it just something to wipe down the dash, door cards etc thanks in advance!

Chemical Guys Inner Clean for keeping on top of things, I also use Auto Finesse Verso at a weak dilution for cleaning up the inevitable drinks spill/melted chocolate etc you're going to get, get a Valet Brush too for all tight areas you can't reach with a cloth.

*G3 clay mitt.

The only lube you need is dunking the clay mitt in car shampoo bucket after every panel or so. :)

Aye that one haha :p
Ah i read that i needed lube, if not I think I'll give it a bash then :)

I've got Ag Body wash, SRP and Gloss protector, MF's and sponges by the boxload. Got the AG Leather care stuff for the interior.

Whats decent from Halfrauds for maybe sealing alloys and summit like Iron X?

True, race glace clay works with water but I rather use a lube, more slippery, no chance whatever of scratching then...no expenses spared :-)
