It doesn't leave a super glossy finish, but it does make the metallic flakes in the paint pop a lot more. Seems to be a much crisper finish when compared to Poor Boys Natty blue, and DJ Purple Haze (which seem to mute the flake pop and give a glossier finish).

First time using optimum no rinse wash & wax today, WOW im very impressed, i used the spray bottle method rather than the two bucket method, First i made a quick trip to the local BP garage for a quick blast on their jet wash to get the heavy stuff off then got home and used the no rinse to spray a panel at a time then dried/buffed with a microfiber towl. so simple yet so effective and so quick, worked wonders on the windows as well can't believe how quick i did the entire car and the finish is brilliant.

Don't think i will go back to bucket and water washing now, Im not somebody that enjoys spending all day cleaning the car like a lot of people really into detailing do, i enjoy it but like to keep it quick and simple so this stuff is like a god send to me.

Have you noticed any swirls in the paint?

Can't help but feel sceptical about using those sort of products...maybe if the only dirt on your car was some minor traffic film. Any more dirt and I don't think I could trust it. :o

I was also very skeptical for the same reason, Haven't noticed any swirls, The stuff is weird somehow the dirt just seems to wipe off with ease, 90% of the car wasn't very dirty but it did have a decent amount of mud around the arches and side sills and it just wiped off like nothing, no smearing or spreading the dirt around either a quick wipe down was all it took and it was clean as anything, i couldn't believe how clean my drying towel was after i had finished the car either, im not sure what kind of sorcery is in the stuff its like it some how creates some sort of barrier between the dirt and the paint its very strange.

I guess i can't comment on long term use and swirls tho yet but my initial impressions are extremely good.

Trying out some Sonax products today, and I'm so impressed I wont be buying anything else!

Gave the old tractor a good wash today using the 2 bucket method. Followed by a good clay session. Gave her a second wash then used meguiars ultimate compound. Finally used meguiars ultra polish. I just need to invest in some wax.

Also managed to kerb my alloy the other day so got a mobile fitter to give them all a re-furb for me.

Before,

And after. Not a great shot I'm afraid but looks brand new. :)

Spray it heavily with detailing spray and lay a microfibre cloth over it, let it soften and then wipe it off smoothly. Won't stop it etching your clear coat though.

some test panels done today with below products, made some short clips

pretty amazing!

SONAX Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailer - Water Sheeting

SONAX Polymer Net Shield - Water Sheeting

Sonax BSD - used for the first time yesterday, absolutely incredible stuff. I'd previously used Dodo Juice SNH a few weeks back which gave the car incredible flake pop and a real sharp look to the paint, but the BSD has given it a stunning wet look.

Just realised that the wood sander I've got in the garage is a Random Orbit sander, so am now thinking of using it as a DA on the car. It does speeds from 7000 to 11000 orbits per minute, and takes 125mm sanding discs.

What would be a good foam or wool pad to use? The sanding discs attach using a Velcro hook and loop system, so I guess polishing pads are the same?

Quick reflection shot of my E46 wearing a layer of Dodo Juice SNH, with a quick layer of BSD (which I love). Seriously glossy and the water just flies off the car. There's a couple of muddy water spots on the car from the recent rain, but I think a jet washer would clean those off without me having to touch the car with a mitt.

7000 is going to be waaaaay too fast for what you want to achieve I believe.

You can get the Silverline DA/rotary from the rainforest place for not much money these days so they may be a good shout to get you started.

It's BMW paint - orange peel comes as standard :p

It's not as bad in the flesh, the picture seems to have exaggerated it quite a lot.

Ah ok, tbh I only learned what this was recently and I've been dying to point it out somewhere ;). My friends 14 plate Merc is the same. Love that colour btw.

Haha I notice it so much more since I've been reading around on DetailingWorld  but I'm not quite brave enough to wet sand my own car.

Thanks - it looks great in the sun, and under fluorescent lighting, but on our usual overcast days, it looks very... meh! :o

That looks fantastic. Keep hearing good things being said about BSD but haven't tried it as yet. When you apply it does it leave a residue or dust behind as it is being buffed up?

It doesn't - its thicker in consistency than any other quick detailer that I've used, but it spreads and buffs off flawlessly and easily. I noticed I needed to spray, wipe, and then turn the MF over and buff off to get perfect results as it would leave some smearing without turning the MF over (not something I've had to do with others like Auto Finesse Desire).

Really like this stuff, I think I'll be using it permanently after each wash. I've seen some people use it on their alloy wheels with good results, but I'm not sure how well it'll cope with hot brake dust being showered on it :D
