The case of the Burning Dell Mini 9?

I wonder what happened here, it was on the wood floor according to the owner so wasn't getting overheated, maybe perhaps the vents were blocked with dust or something?

If not then a battery fault sounds scary having just got my 13z

Looks like a battery malfunction have seen only 2 or 3 similar instances in my 6 years of laptop repairing, and we see a lot of laptops.

They create a lot of heat but i've never heard of one actually catching fire, and usually produce the charred effects as shown in that link.

thankfully my 13z never gets even warm it seems, the battery is cool to the touch so fingers crossed I don't encounter such issues!

Think they had a batch of dodgy batteries from china a while back, maybe it was one of them.

I saw one like this a couple of months back - customer plugged it in to charge it and the casing around the power socket melted.
