They are still members of the Conservative party, Johnson chose to stop them represent the party as MP’s.

    That wage pledge seems terrible.
They're behind their prior pledge of 9 pound by 2020 anyway as it's set to be ~8.70 by 2020 which means they're suggesting only a 1.80 raise over 4 years.

    Are they totally inept?

Why wouldn't you believe their new target? It's not like they have done it before......

    Edit - @Tony Edwards I most certainly was :p.

    My point is.

Our currency wasn't trashed when they pledged 9 by 2020.

10.50 by 2024 is slower wage growth with a diminished currency.

    How is that exciting

^^^ It gets better. Even if they upped minimum wage to £10.50 today, it would be worth the same as £9 was on the day of the EU referendum.

Yes. As has been pointed out, their wage pledge is well below that of Labour unless cost of living and inflation combined come to less than 5% over the next 5 years. Labour anticipate a 1.8% rise year on year, meaning in 2024 their LWP will be £10.74.

Interesting that the Tories are saying "by 2024", though. No Parliament can bind a future Parliament, and this one is due to expire in 2022. So either they plan to do nothing and are just blowing hot air, or this is an election pledge that will not happen if they're not returned and if they are, will conveniently coincide with the next General Election. That's assuming a GE this year of course, which is practically a given.

Bonker Boris says the "reality" of Brexit is that there will need to be customs checks on the island of Ireland after the UK leaves the EU - but apparently not positioned five or ten miles back.

Perhaps they could be just by the Blarney Stone?

Careful now. Remember you are more closely linked to the Libdems ideologicaly than the angry far right winger that you portray on these forums. :p

Im gonna take a guess and say doodah was agreeing with you but taking the **** out the Tories pledges.

That's unfortunate, right before they discuss "being tough on crime"...

Regardless, it's certainly no 2009 conference...

    Ha

The event, being held in Manchester, is believed to be on ‘lockdown’, following a ‘punch-up’ between MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown and security. Armed police and paramedics are on the scene following the incident, which is believed to have happened inside the International Lounge at the conference centre. The Cotswolds MP did not deny the reports, and said: ‘I’ve got nothing further to say about it. I don’t want to comment on it, really.’

It seems however that Paramedics were also in attendance and security staff shut down entrances and exits into the media lounge and covered the glass window leading into the lounge for about 30 minutes.

Just watching Pritti Patel talking to the Tory conference about how she feels about police forces being under pressure and how the Tories are going to rectify it by "backing the police".
It's a nauseating display of cant and hypocrisy.

Yes, they're going to replace the officers they got rid of and, after a decade in power, have decided that assaulting a Police officer is quite serious and the punishment should fit the crime.:o

I hope the police aren't buying this. It's like an abuser saying everything is going to be fine now...
    • Attack Labour despite being in power for nearly a decade
    • Promise lots of wonderful things despite cutting police numbers by 20,000 coupled with a number of police station closures
    • Promote law & order despite the PM disregarding this
    • Praises Thatcher
And one of their MPs has just been sent packing for a punch up. Priceless.

    I wish she wasn't so tasty :o:mad::mad::mad::mad:!
