had the same problem in early stages. it is harder to find ammo.

im lvl 7 and exploring everything not doing main quest at moment. and the amount of ammo i have it is unbelievable .
 
ok so i should sod the main quest and go off o nthe side quests first.. ive got one to go and get food from the supermarket and one to go and find somebody's dad or something.. so do those first?

how do you ge tit? just pick it up off people? or buy it? find it?

I guess you haven't visited the Super Duper Mart yet :p

There are all sorts of ways you can play this game, you can be sneaky and try not to kill too much people but most of the time the raiders will start firing at you so the easiest way is to sneak up on one, hit the V-button and shoot their head off for a guaranteed critical sneak attack hit with a shotgun :cool:

After cleaning out a room go and hunt for pickups, treasures, ammo and medicine, don't forget to search each person you kill for ammo or guns you can use to repair your own gun.
 
I've got shedloads of ammo now and lots of weapons. I haven't done any main quest just about 15 side quests. I'm level 13-14 now.

I've got that bloke that shows up shooting people :D he's brilliant. Theres a perk that lets you find more ammo then normal.
 
aaaha! that crazy woman was right... to the Super Duper Mart it is!

this game still makes me feel uneasy! lol

anybody had that glitch where you respawn and your constantly attacking? was hilarious!.. if not ammo consuming! lol

loving this game so far though!

although i picked u pa shotgun, and it broke soon after :( need to get a new one or repair it... anybody know how?!

Too repair an item, you need another of the same item, in a worse state than the one you are repairing.

You can only repair as much as your repair skill allows, so you'll be hovering around 50% for most of the start of the game.

I'm going to hunt down a motorcycle engine so I can build my Shishkebab tonight :D
 
Im loving this game so far.

The first time i was abit stupid and rushed through, found myself running out of ammo, getting owned by small groups of raiders and super mutants. So i thought bugger this and started again. This time im having a lot more fun, finding plenty of ammo and exploring all possible areas.

Techincally thats not true as long as your repair skill is high enough, you can use an item even if its in better nick that your own, also somethings can be used to repair others, like the talon armour can be used to repair the combat armour ( better dr than doing it the other way around) pistols can be used to repair the silenced pistol

Sorry, forgot to mention that modified version of items can usually be repaired by their unmodified brethren.

Didn't know you could repair with something better, but that probably just because I switch to whichever is in the best nick, and use the crapper ones to repair it.

There is some special power armor that although does not provide a strength bonus, it is at 100% condition and has the highest damage resistance. Being a 1 of a kind thing though, its impossible to get back to 100% cnd so other power armor will be better once that armor drops to low cnd. The only way to get it back to 100% would be to cheat by using console to spawn a 2nd set of it. There is also a fat man and a mini nuke or two down there.

Once you pick up the armor, the quest is completed there, even if other parts of the quest are not done (such as kill tenpenny), meaning you cant go to crawley for his reward either (the unique power armor is worth much more anyway)

You can repair it using BoS armour :) And, you can give the keys to Crowley, get his reward. He will then get the armour, if you visit him later, you can kill him and get the armour as well :P win-win

Well I'm enjoying this game so far, even though it does seem to crash every 30 - 60 minutes, usually when I try to talk to someone...

Anyway, I got the game through steam (had a free weekend a a lack of patience :p) and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get hold of the game manual?

yes, you need 2 items of the same type, for example to repair a hunting rifle, you need a 2nd hunting rifle. put your cursor over it in the weapons menu and press R, it will bring up a list of items that can be used to repair it. If the other items are faded out, it means your repair skill is not high enough to repair any more.
 
They need to fix something, if you break a door lock you are buggered if there's no key for the door I am starting again because I broke grays safe key room door lock in marigold station there's no way to open it there is no key.
