I just bought a pallit of 6 22", 21" and 19" CRTs for £2.20. Some of these used to cost £600 odd 4 years ago. That's quick devaluation even for electronics.

Sounds like a good deal, i picked up 5 21" crt's from my nearby college the other year for €4 each... i feel robbed.

with the new WEEE directive, it costs more for companies to get rid of their IT gear. So its cheaper to give away (if they cba to clear the data properly) or sell some parts of it for peanuts

Got my crt dell 17'' for free, originally was going to by it for 20€ after a bid, but once i came there i saw a scratch on it, while in advert it said perfect condition, so i said I dont really need it then, after wich they told me that they want to get rid of it and gave me it for free :) .

Still happy with it, although i have 1 tft now too, using the crt as 2nd mon is nice :) .

Man , i would happily take a monster CRT . i have been using this old 17" for years :(

TFT's arent generally better quality, and you don't get the choice of resolution that you get with a massive CRT.

Its the sort of LCD vs Plasma argument, except CRTs are massive.

Well, I got 'em... now I know why they were cheap - they're pants. Really really pants. The only one without too many annoying scratched (still has one small on dead center has two lines at 1/3 and 2/3s of the way up the screen... *sigh*.
