The Cryptolambo had gone to the moon... Time for Cryptolambo 2!!!

So its been a bit cold as some of you may have noticed.

Unfortunately on a drive out, I went to use the windscreen washers and nothing happened. I thought it may have just been so cold that the screenwash had frozen in the lines. However on getting home and opening the frunk up... well... not quite.

Pulled the front end out and dried off the battery, supercap, connections etc and covered it all up.

As it is quite nice today, got it all re-assembled, new battery monitor hooked up, new ctek quick connect cables hooked up also.

All tested, working, car starts, happy days, and can now monitor the battery charge once again.

The only thing I may do is run the ctek cable down the back of the car and hook up a quick connect there somehow, just to make it easier than having to run an extension out to the front of the car. But will need a ramp for that to be honest as the trays will need to come off.

Does that battery monitor give you any indication of how much drain it itself adds? I quite fancy one as also end up not using the GT4 for weeks at a time during winter and it's also a 30m extension lead faff for me.

Is it always connected over BLE? Or just like a periodic notification thing?

A tiny tiny amount, and yea if youre within 30 meters (though realistically its less when installed) in the app it connects via bluetooth. The app lets you set up alerts as well if it drops to a certain point.

So I decided to go to waitrose and rev the **** off the car for a laugh today. However a driver didnt like that so tried to take me out. Thankfully due to my godlike reflexes managed to swerve out the way and only the wing mirror was a casualty. *

Fortunately the paint protection spray took all the damage and the paint is unharmed, just means I need to get it booked in at litchos for a respray, as its gone through 2 of the 3 layers it wont be a spot repair and the while mirror will need completely re-doing its better than having to have paintwork redone.

*may or may not have happened.

van tried to squeeze past on a narrow bit of road, and just caught the outside edge of the mirror which folded it in, unfortunately by the time it registered that there might have been a bit of damage he was long gone down the road so no reg no, and to be fair it didnt even make a noise that was audible inside the car so I doubt even he knew it happened

It seems that both @Gibbo and I are in at the same time :D

Him for his gearbox, and me for my wing mirror.

Unfortunately when they removed the wing mirror to re-do the paint protection there was some corrosion found working its way under the door paintwork.

It has been removed and treated, due to yellow being an absolute pig of a color to match, we decided to go for a full panel blend out. Got sent a quick piccy tonight:

A camera will usually really show up color match issues on yellow paint, so from this it appears they have got it absolutely spot on to the rear quarter and roof.

Where did you get the paintwork done? Looks like a great match!

At Litchfields :) Their head of the bodyshop is an extremely experienced painter. Very skilled at his craft and ive seen some of the repair work hes done, absolutely impeccable.

What are the doors made of?

As the 'mericans would say.

I did think that, pretty interesting that it's gone. Although once it starts Alu goes quickly.

Fortunately because the wing mirror came off to be PPSed we caught it early so the work needed was minor. Going to have them remove the other wingmirror also and check there, if its anything like the GTR was then its a corrosion point that will potentially be happening on both sides.

So update, the lacquer has now had a few weeks to dry out and has had some polishing done to make sure its all looking fantastic.

Its now prepped and about to have the paint protection re-applied.

While in, also had some other bits done.

  • Had all 4 wheels completely stripped back to metal and re-painted as they were starting to look a bit tatty.
  • Front bumper paint protection removed and will be re-applied as it has done its job and was also looking tatty.
  • Had the frunk lid paint protection peeled and re-applied as above, it had taken a number of stone chips.
  • Investigated to see if there was somewhere that water could work its way into the interior as under extreme cornering water would drip onto passengers feet sometimes. Turns out its air con condensate.

So apparently they wernt happy with the way I accelerated the car.

Then proceeded to try and throw everything they could at me. Nothing would stick and they know it.

It was a year ago today I got pulled for doing nothing wrong. Made me laugh considering how much it ended up costing them in time and money to try and make a point because they were frankly jealous.

Id do it all again too :D

So car back from litchos today.

They sorted a bunch of stuff cosmetically as previously listed. And to polish it off they saved the badge which was getting some lacquer peel.

Will obviously give it a clean and a very close inspection when we get some sunshine, but so far everything looks absolutely spot on.

So as some of you know I have had a deposit down on the Revulteo for a long time with Lambo.

Yesterday was the official "UK unveiling" of the car at Silverstone and was there alongside nearly 400 other owners where we got a full day of lambo hospitality.

The day started turning up at Silverstone for ~10am. Where freshly baked pastries, fresh coffee, hot drinks, cold drinks etc were served.

As the silverstone wing paddok filled to nearly bursting, it was apparent we had a bit of a special day on hand with a lot of rare and classic cars not only on display but driven there by the owners..
