Hi guys,

I have been thinking about getting some new speakers and for quite a while have been looking to get the Aego-M speakers. This is mostly for games and music as i already have surround sound on my tv for films.

I have noticed the z-2300s on TWO for about £90 which seems pretty good, just not too sure on the quality of them (do they look tacky in the flesh?) and how they compare to others on the market.

What-Hi dropped Aego down to 3 stars saying they were great but now there are better on the market but it doesnt actually say what these miraculous new speakers are.

Can someone please point me in the direction of the best 2.0/2.1 speakers i could get for around £100?

Thanks

got to say ill be getting some Aego-M speakers as soon as i have spare cash
you will be hard pushed to get better for £100 unless you go for hifi speakers/amp

I am running out of time to buy the 2300s if i want to get them on TWO. How do they sound when playing music and games, also would they plug in okay to a xonard1 along with Sennheiser HD595?

At the moment i have to use the plantronics switch for my creative inspire digital 5700 and headphones in order to have mic plugged in, but with the 2300 having a headset port on the control i mite be able to forego the switch?

I am just having trouble justifying the extra 20 quid to myself for the aegos when all of the reviews on the site for the 2300 look good, similarly i do not wish to waste 90 quid on vastly inferior speakers and will pay the extra if its really worth it.

Had the older model of the Z2300s for around five years and theyve been great value for money. Great for films/games/music, much more powerful than I really need but paired with a good soundcard they have as much quality as they do power.

Only complaint is that the volume control died recently, cant really complain given the five years use I had but logitech were no help. Even though its the exact same component thats used in the current Z2300s they wouldnt even sell me the part.

*Edit* This thread reminded me to check around to look for a replacemnt volume module and there seem to be a huge number of people whove had similar problems with the unit. Seems reliability may not be the best.

I'm thinking about getting the Z2300 also, not sure I have the will to import stuff from US and get plugs etc ;)

ps: I can't seem to find the type of interface for this set tho, anyone know where I can find that?

What are peoples thoughts on M-Audio Studiophile Av40 speakers? They dont have a seperate sub and i am not sure how much of a difference that would make when listening to music or playing games?

Should i just bite the bullet n buy the aegos or is there better to be had for the money these days?

Well i just ordered the Aego speakers, really hope i dont live to regret the decision over getting audioengine A2/AV-40/z-2300 speakers :/

Could anyone reassure me that i should see a significant improvement on these speakers over my creative inspire digital 5700 speakers or should i be cancelling my order right now lol

Ooo i forgot to ask, i currently use a plantronics headphone/speaker switch because the xonar seemingly wasnt as good for inputs as i thought. Will this still work using the aegos and will it reduce the sound quality?

+1
I bought these a year ago and rate them very highly, good base and for two such tiny speakers the sound quality is very good

Richer Sounds (or better yet 2nd hand)... Get an amp and a pair of speakers. Will sound far better than most pc speakers in your price bracket.
I did the shift about a year ago, and wish I had done it sooner, such a difference!
