The England Cricket Thread

Is this tentative hope shortly followed by crushing defeat.....

Yeah that's my thinking as well. They've just gotta focus and think that time is on their side. If both root and denly can hang on until end of the day then that should put us in a much better position.

They can't be affording to rush or take risks. It might make the gameplay boring, but if it gives us a better chance of winning then so be it.

England, they have to go and give me hope the buggers.

It's at times like these having an Aussie best mate is not optimal for an easy life.

Great days cricket.
That was text book play for the current situation. And importantly Root and Denly showed they understand how to adjust their play.

Hopefully Stokes will be calm in the morning and not go out their and go for stupid balls. My god that ball he went for in the 1st innings... What was he thinking? It was a T20 and he needed 1 more run from the last ball to win?

If they can keep in for an hour that'll make it a good afternoon to watch, stokes just has to settle in. 2/3 runs an over is fine...they have 2 days!

I find myself enthusing that although this is not a record-breaking England batting lineup, if they survive the first couple of overs and the first new ball, we could be in for a match.

...then I remember that this is England. It'll all be over before lunch. Probably before morning drinks.

They do inspire this train of thought quite easily.

They played their own game in the world cup.

I hope Trevor & root are being very clear to them all that they don't need to go for any runs before lunch. Just stay in and don't lose a wicket. Lol
Aye, this is a Test not a WC, they have two days - just stay in!!!

The runs will slowly tick over if they just stay there.

Edit: I am also prepared to be ranting buy lunchtime about losing a handful of wickets for 6 runs ;)
