Isn't that the problem though..... People have 100% decided that they want to come to the UK regardless of the EU.
Yes says a lot about the EU doesn't it.

Well they could under your grand plan. Sounds like a great idea to me. I quite fancy Oz but it's a long row.Is this the level of anti-asylum thinking? UK pensioners claiming asylum to move to Spain.
It's super weird how people won't accept the fact that people are illegally migrating here because they want to live and work in the UK without applying for a Visa, not because their country of origin is unsafe. I mean I accept the fact that their home countries are **** holes, but let's not pretend they're Jews escaping Nazi Germany at the threat of death camps, that's simply not the case.
To be honest, this thread is quite well illustrating how utterly based upon 'feelings' rather than logic the anti-asylum crowd is.
Barely a shred of critical analysis between all of you.
We have loads of shortages of labour that asylum seekers could help fill. Except they aren't allowed to work (another government choice that they could change)There's no benefit to flooding our country with more people who aren't going to work or we have no need for or who will be taking jobs that UK citizens should get.
France and Germany each take three times as many applications as we do annuallyWhat I want to know is what is the incentive to come to Britain?
European countries have always said we're a soft touch and thats why people head here instead of stopping in europe.
So why are people coming here instead of staying in europe?
Yes it's certainly not something I overly understand. The idea that the majority have links here seems rather tenuous, and spending thousands of pounds to risk their lives getting here illegally doesn't seem to make much sense unless they really do believe this is the land of milk and honey. What I want to know is what is the incentive to come to Britain?

Of course. Stopping an asylum seekers getting to claim asylum because they have no documentation is insane.
Also, here you complain at the prospect of asylum seekers not working, but also at the prospect of them getting jobs. There's no benefit to flooding our country with more people who aren't going to work or we have no need for or who will be taking jobs that UK citizens should get.
And also encourage many more people to risk their lives in the channel. That's not what you said and your response is wrong.
You proposed that entry to the UK for asylum purposes would not require a passport.
As you will know, asylum seekers do have claims approved without travel documentation. This happens under the existing process.
That means lack of travel documentation does not rule out a successful claim.
The likely impact of your scene would be to increase entries, and the proportion of entries with no identification, adding further difficulty to an asylum system already stretched to breaking point.
Yes, but you have to be in the UK before you can apply for asylum (UK government choice, again), so you need to travel here first. As you will know, asylum seekers do have claims approved without travel documentation. This happens under the existing process.

Am heart brokenly sad at what happened in the English Channel yesterday. Utterly appalling!
Listening to the news this morning and was surprised to hear everyone blaming "people traffickers". We have people traffickers because people choose to pay them huge sums of money to do something that they know is illegal. These people are choosing to bypass the legal ways to get into the UK to get into tiny unseaworthy boats despite numerous drownings. France is perfectly safe as were any number of the EU countries passed through on the way to the English Channel.
Seriously what the hell is going on!
AND in other news... UK food bank usage is at a record high and people living in poverty is also on the way up.
