They can only get citizenship if they become economically active members of German society and speak the language over a minimum of 5 years.

Some might well achieve that but having got a job, a place to live and fluent German skills why would they then all rush to the UK?

Most of them will never achieve that anyway and will therefore not be EU citizens.

Based on the fact that anyone who walked to Germany should be staying in the first EU country they set foot in, I have little faith in whatever protocol is supposed to follow.

Another question.

When our government thinks up fantastical ideas such as the Digital economy bill (anti piracy laws and mas surveillance) how would being in or out of the EU affect the governments ability to put this in to action?

Has being in the EU meant that Cameron with his Digital economy bill nonsense meant that he hasn't been able to get things like this through parliament as easy?

You have to remember one thing, we never got a vote on things like this.

They think up fantastical ideas then vote on it amongst them selves in parliament. Hardly democratic.

It's probably the EU that keeps things like this semi rationale.

From a former Times journalist:

The bookies rarely get it wrong, they make £100'sM every year. Yes they do get the rare one wrong like Leicester which is why the big fuss was made over it. Looking at the various companies and they are all in agreement.

I wouldn't read too much into those figures. I'm no expert, but if I'm not mistaken the odds that the bookies offer are mainly determined by how much has been staked on each outcome and at what odds. The bookies do their best to try and make a profit or balance the books at worst. So if a lot of money goes on STAY then the odds will get shorter for STAY and longer for LEAVE and vice versa. All those odds tell us are that the bookies would lose more if we STAY in the EU so they're covering their backs by offering even worse odds for stay and trying to tempt people into putting money on LEAVE to offset any potential losses. It's a little like matched betting but on a much grander scale. I've not worded it very well but I've been awake almost 30 hours straight and my brain is frazzled! :D

I remember Labour being favourite with most bookies last year just days before the general election and they ended up getting trounced by the Tories...

For the record I'll be voting out but expect us to stay in by pretty narrow margins.

These people need to be asked directly things like 'Would you be happy with 2 million randomly selected people from the middle-east and Africa appearing in London over 6 months'. Surely the mayor of London has some concern for housing and public services?

And a legitimate answer to that would be "why? It's not going to happen (whether we stay or leave) so is an irrelevant comment"

What happens in 40 years when the current wave of migrants has retired. Won't we need even more migrants to pay for their pensions and health care? Wouldn't it be better to solve that problem now rather than kick the can down the street and make the problem worse for our children?

If the migrants are instead expected to return to their country of birth (which is often said) then isn't that very selfish of us to expect that country to pay for their education and their pensions and for us to use their best productive years for our own profit?

Because growth and GDP are the only things that matter in the current system. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any influential groups trying to change this. Just keep building the pyramid scheme and hope you aren't at the bottom when it collapses.

So it wasn't 'fact' after all, just a guess. The laws regarding citizenship are somewhat more robust.

Making millions of people German citizens so they can all run to the UK for whatever reason serves no useful purpose and the idea it'd happen is just guess work to suit an agenda.

There are credible reasons to vote out of the EU, but the non European migrant issue isn't one of them.

I bet the Germans didn't think 2 million non-EU immigrants would be an issue last year either..

Well, here's some words from her husband:

...

“In a country like Poland, immigration can dominate a national election debate, despite the country being 97% white Catholic (and immigration levels being at a level where the immigration officers probably remember all the applicants’ names)”[/indent]

87%~ of Poles are Catholic, so no idea how 97% can be both white and Catholic... but it is still terrible! How can we get rid of them Jack? Communism failed, even more blood thirsty means maybe?

Immigration officers probably remembering all applicants names is an abomination! One can only hope that one day they will have a million+ illegal immigrants with no idea where they are just like us!

Write to the MP and say Im not voting for somebody who puts through mass surveillance bills. If nothing else they'll evaluate their chances of relection. There is some influence though small.
I see the EU process as more convoluted and of course UK is a smaller section of what happens over the whole distributed base of EU democracy such as it is.

UK is 5th largest economy in the world, its no negative to take over those reins more directly. We arent likely to become less powerful as citizens by resuming that role. We wont decline as part of Europe because we are so important, we are Germanys largest customer in Europe it does not matter whose political views are in play or what bias when they are relying on so much of our money in their economy.

They will listen to everything we say as a vital trading partner and we will do the same with them and every other useful trading nation, theres nobody in Europe about to ignore UK or even diminish our business influence after leaving EU. They would lose money and jobs trying to achieve that, theres no gain for them turning away UK money. They dont do this to other non EU parts of Europe, no precedent

Yes how can a nation function with such little diversity.

I think the idea Germany, for example, will dish out citizenship willy nilly is lol. Would you risk giving loads of people citizenship in the hope they'd sod off... given they could then just stay and couldn't be forced out etc?

And Germany would be liable to pay their pensions regardless of where they lived, if I understand the rules correctly.

I've 5 minutes, I'll try and help you to understand.

What does that picture together with that slogan tell the viewer?

There are thousands of illegal migrants streaming across Europe virtually unfettered? Nigel Farage may be the best bet to stem the tide from the UK's point of view?

But every time he is the voice of reason on this, he is branded a racist?

Given the opportunity, I think he'd be quite capable.

Encourage many children single earner married couples through tax breaks.

So why haven't we done that in the past? If we had then we wouldn't need to import people. That says to me that it's unlikely to happen in the future. Which means ever more immigration and higher taxes.
