no, not that one. ;)

just been watching it. the slaughter at the end has actually shocked me. personally i enjoy eating meat, but really couldnt go to a slaughter house.

have any of you?

I think it shocked Gordon too. Annoyingly, I can imagine them receiving complaints, but I don't see what was wrong with it. We just live a fairly censored life so are not used to seeing such natural processes.

Even Gordon Ramsey looked green around the gills as Trinny and Sussanah had their throats cut

Don't think I could have done that.

my grandad used to work in one, retired now, but he has all kinds of photos and videos he took while working there...quite disgusting some of them. I remember inparticular this cow being killed for halal meat, they slit its throat and blood just pumped out onto the tiled wall.....not nice stuff :(

i think perhaps it was worse for gordon as he has had them as "pets". but then he wanted to go through the whole process.

I quite enjoyed it (not in a sick way), just to see this sort of thing isn't hidden in such a PC society.

Shock to the brain, hang it from the back trotters, slit throat.

Simple.

I just watched it too, he did look a bit sick. I doubt he's squeamish as such though.

I've killed and cleaned quite a few animals but if I had to do it to a pet I'd lived with for a while, I'd be a bit put out too.

Have seen my mum wring a chickens head off, almost puked when she cut off anothers head with a knife.. i could never do things like that  Also seen cow take an axe to the neck, survive and run like hell till it bled to death, all of this on holiday in the caribbean.

Indeed, people must remember that the meat we see neatly packaged in see-through packet in the supermarket has come from a living animal that had to have been killed at some point, in some way.

I think many people forget this.

The somewhat gruesome slaughter of livestock must (and will continue to) go on, in order to satiate our ever growing need for meat that we are happy to consume in its various pre-packaged forms.

As someone said earlier, I think Ramsey's disgust was more down to the fact that those were his "pets" that he was seeing slaughtered. Im sure he has been to many a slaughter house so under circumstances where it is not his own pets being slaughtered, he would probably take it all in his stride.

Wait till you have seen it in real life its much worse, there's lots more blood then they showed too. And that thrashing can go on for quite a while ...

Anyone notice the fantastic fat on them? They are going to make great bacon!

Its not too bad as long as you have respect for the animal. Did any one see a documentary of 4 in the early part of the year, it was about a slaughter house and they had a halal slaughter man there. I was quite impressed with his attitude and how he carried out the slaughter. The animals were a lot less stressed than some of the ones that were slaughter by the normal staff.

Although there appeared to be two types of staff working there; the psychotic who really aught to of been slaughter themselves  and the normal/bit slow ppl who were very caring and got the job done.

It is however always sad to see your own stock going to the slaughter house as you have cared for them to the best of your ability for the majority of there lives.

didn't shock me, but then I use to work in a pig slaughter house...
Gordon looked absolutley shocked. Especially with the movment after death..
Its unfortunate but they will get complaints. I think its good for people to know where there meat comes from. I would off loved to actually kill a pig, but unfortunatley you had to be trained :(..

well you should have watched it the other week

cutting pigs balls off while they are still alive and squeezing them out.

plus the conditions of some farms....disgraceful.

I think he did say that it was the very first time he'd been to a slaughter house and how much of a hypocrite he thought he was because of this. But yeah, point still stands: if he hadn't become so attached to the pigs it wouldn't have been half as bad for him.

Never give a slaughter animal a name for that very reason.

I was quite shocked with the slicing of the throat bit as I didnt expect it to be that quick lol. Looked fast though so they didnt suffer

Sadly you're talking about animals. :(

I didn't like the way they were hung over a big bath to catch all the **** and crap that comes out as well as the blood. I like black pudding :(

Don't swear! FF.

Gordon actually said he had never been to a slaughter house before in his life. :p

I worked in a pig slaughter house for 5 years. The pigs really are kept/killed in the most humane way. Another intresting fact for you all. the pigs actually have to be kept for 8 hours at the house before killing to let the addrenalin run out of there bodies other wise the meat is really tough ;)

Moved onto EPos systems now :p :p
