The FA CUP Third Round ** Spoilers ** [4th - 7th January 2019]

True because a quality player has never missplaced a pass ever. Liverpool's single biggest issue today wasn't the quality of the players but the balance of the side. Because of the injuries we have and players we cannot therefore risk today or players that needed a rest, we had no natural RB, CB (excluding a 16 year old) or holding midfielder. When you're going into a game vs a near full strength, decent PL side without a foundation to your side then you're always going to have issues.

Excuses, you know they don’t have the strength in depth. Period.

Sure the next 11 players are never on the same level but this is a massive drop off. It was the reserves mix with the youth team, literally.

...exactly? It was the reserves and the youth team...and we lost 2-1 to a full strength Wolves team despite having more of the ball. We were pants...wolves weren't much better.

We were missing 8 first team players tonight.

Currently sat on 54 points and in the champions League but hey...

Excuses or common sense? And if you think that was our "next 11" then I don't think you have a clue what you're talking about. We have three possible holding midfielders but for different reasons we either couldn't or wouldn't play them (one had to play CB). We have two RB's but for differeing reasons we either couldn't or wouldn't play either. We have 4 senior CB's but for differing reasons we either couldn't or wouldn't play 3 of them and the 1 we did play came off injured after a couple of minutes. The balane of our side was shot to bits because we weren't playing even our 2nd 11 players in key positions.

They’re not great and outside of City no one else’s has assembled a great second team, only manu can afford that also, but you’ve picked a pretty stupid example to illustrate how it’s weak.
We got a better or matched the result of all the other top 6 at Wolves with a second string team?

Had over 100m of summer signings out on the pitch, that's enough to build that Wolves 11 twice over with change. Stop making excuses, there was 7 PL quality players out there.

Don’t give me that, we all know if this was a league match the starting 11 would be totally different. Or are you already putting excuses out there for when you go out of the Champion’s League?

The point is they don’t have the strength in depth to challenge all the cups, that is clear, I question their ability to challenge the CL and PL now.

Am I speaking a different language? Yes, I know full well it would be a completely different. I was responding to your argument about our strength in depth and the supposed drop off between our first 11 and that 11, which you seem to believe is our 2nd 11. My entire point is that we've not seen even our 2nd 11 because we weren't going to risk certain players in this game.

This argument is so stupid. We had no defence on the pitch! £40m odd of those signings you mention was a midfielder playing in defence.

@Janesy B

Yes because it's that simple.

It is, that's why Tottenham haven't won the league. Great starting XI, only a few decent players outside of it.

Fabinho is a DM, and also has played RB for Brazil and Monaco. He should be able to drop back, you see DMs do it a lot during games. Too many bad performances, players not bothered because they know there's no way in to the first XI.

Welllll I didn’t see that coming, Liverpool making an early exit of the FA Cup. Thought they had enough depth to beat Wolves ;) :p.

Well done to Wolves though.

You do see defensive midfielders drop back into defence at times, I completely agree but you usually see them do it alongside an experienced back line around them and midfield in front of them. Fabinho was playing alongside the most braindead LB I've ever witnessed play football, a 16 year old kid who's barely played under-21 football and an 18 year old winger playing at RB + no natural holding midfielder in front of him. It's not an excuse - Klopp made the conscious decision not to pick VVD, not to pick Trent or Robertson, not to pick Fabinho in midfield or then one of Henderson or Wijnaldum to play the holding role. However the reality is we've just played a near full strength, very decent PL side away from home with a makeshift defence and midfield.

Dejan 'the world's best defender' Lovren has pulled a hammy, couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke... Anyway, it'll be a few games with Fabinho at CB so he'll have to get up to speed.

I'd say the kids were the best players, Camacho got stuck in and Ki-Jana was so composed. Sturridge needs to find the nearest bin and just get in it, totally finished.

Because he kicked Kane out of the WC semi? Not sure it'll be that many games for Fabinho at CB, Matip and possibly Gomez should be back after Brighton. It was actually away to Brighton last season that we only had 1 fit CB - we played a back 3 with Lovren, Wijnaldum and Can and destroyed Brighton that day.

Camacho looked lost at sea. He didn't have a clue how to play at RB so it's difficult to judge him too much. Hoever naturally struggled physically but you could see his natural ability on the ball.

Kane stuff aside, boldly declaring himself the world's best defender and demanding respect means he needs to come down a peg or two.

He didnt.

He said :

"I think people should recognise that I am also one of the best defenders in the world and not just talk nonsense."

One of...not the best.
