I've tried v neck tshirts but can never get on with them. I think they can look good on some people but I'll nearly always gravitate back to a crew neck.

I have a pair too. They can look great with jeans. having said that, I've been a slob in the last two lockdown years and have worn trainers more than anything else.

Went to the flagship CT store for shirts… turns out the Bluewater guy was too conservative and couldn’t measure my neck properly; 14 1/2 extra slim fit is the one and they have an in store deal where your 4 for £xxx is carried on to 5 and beyond if you’re game. One problem though… when I got home I realised a few of the ones I’d bought were double/French cuff (because the shirt packs aren’t labelled) and I explicitly wanted single cuff so I’ve got to go back tomorrow to swap those. Doh! Not a cufflinks sort of job.

Also tried Hawes & Curtis shirts. Their extra slim - which according to Shirt Detective, a great site btw - is similar to CT’s super slim (which has been discontinued according to the sales assistant) and their fitted slim similar to CT’s ESF. A 14 1/2 of that was a no go. 15 was too baggy in the arms. Their fitted slim 14 1/2 was basically as good a fit as the CT extra slim, maybe a little more forgiving which will be better at peak bulking season so I got 4 from there too.

For an off the rack fit it’s probably as good as I’ll get and I’m not going to be in a fancy enough environment to get M2M so I’m fairly happy. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!

Needed a new pair of work shoes. Found a pair of Grenson Bert shoes (Oxfords). Were great and comfortable straight from the off then developed marks on them. Sent them back and got a refund and bought another pair from a different place, exactly the same thing happened. So angry, I get they’re hand painted but but there is no protection applied, it seems, and I was really careful not to get any liquid on them and low and behold they have marks on them.
Sorry for the rant but I feel a bit let down by the Grenson quality.

So now I’m looking for another pair of (ideally brown) shoes.
Any suggestions? ideally don’t want to go over £150 but have seen a pair of Cheaneys for £175 but can’t decide on the perforated toe detail.

Came back smelling like new leather though and in a fancy suit bag which may come in handy at some point - Jacket still holding up 8-9 years on!

I bought my first good quality leather jacket a few months ago, a cafe racer made from horse leather. brand is Simmons Billt. https://simmonsbilt.com/#

It's a tobacco brown colour and built like a tank (1.2-1.3mm leather), yet it has moulded to my form beautifully. I absolutely love it and was wearing it a ton until recently when it got too warm to do so.

I'd buy another one but in vintage dark red too, Soul revolver still do a few Cafe Racer versions that come in that colour and I really like the quality of the leather too, feels strong and hefty but isn't overly heavy ether, definitely one that forms to you as long as you get the correct size of course.

I've worn mine in winter before to work etc and it's been great at keeping me warm and I didn't opt for the thermal lining option for this one either.

I have a thermally lined black Diesel cafe racer jacket that isn't t leather but is equally designed with the same pockets and an even more snug fit which I really like, just as this leather, wear it in winter too and that's really comfortable, like being wrapped in a scarf in minus temperatures.

Also have a coffee suede jacket that's cafe racer style too but that's more suited to spring/summer weather. Gets a lot of wear time. Cannot beat these simple classic jacket styles that have never really gone out of fashion as they're so timeless

These look pretty good, how did you come to find these guys?

Looking through their site, I almost feel like I need to request samples, there appears to be far more colour options available than what appears in the drop down list. Almost to many options.

My two Soul Revolver jackets are still going strong. I bought around the same time as mrk. I can't believe they are that old now.
