Just saw the trailer for this:

http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain/trailer1/

(It's also on youtube, just search for it)

Surprised to see Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in the lead roles. Seem like big names for Aronofsky. Can only guess that someone with a brain has given him a much bigger budget after seeing the brilliance of Pi and Requiem. Interesting concept for the plot, set over three time-periods; I'm not sure how it's going to work out. Don't often watch movies, but I think when this comes out I'll make the effort to go see it.

Christ, that's beautiful...

I hope he has Die Midlander doing the score again...

It's Clint Mansell doing the score, along with the Kronos Quartet. Mogwai are also doing some music for it :)

Ok, been waiting a while for a new film from this guy, and this looks as if it's going to be something i'm going to hate or love, i aint too sure by watching the trailer, but i will definitely be going to see it when it comes out.

Looks decent, can't wait for this. Pi is one of my favourite films and Requiem although harrowing is up there too.

Mogwai getting involved with the score can't be a bad thing either.

I've been waiting for this since last Summer! It looks amazing, I'm glad that Clint Mansell is doing the soundtrack again, in Requiem it was a stunning score. The trailer looks really good too, and they're not giving away too much. Roll on the release! :)

i've been looking forward to this film since it was announced because i'm a big fan of aronofsky plus i'm weak at the knees for soppy love stories (which i assume it's going to be about at the heart of it).

I was a little disappointed at the casting (hugh jackman mainly) - especially since it looks to me as he was chosen as he was "the hottest" star (debatable i know) around due to his rising popularity in the x-men series. It looks as if he chose to do this film because it's a more serious role over that of van hellsing and x-men.

HOWEVER, aronofsky is no fool, therefore if jackson made the casting then he's fit for the role, i will just imagine jackson going berserker rage and healing factor during the film.

Nope, almost forgotten about this aswell.

I just hope the VUE here shows it, while I was working there I was appalled at the films they were showing while there were better films they weren't.

From the reviews I've read, and they're mainly from America, you fall into one of two camps with this film; you either think it's great piece of film making, or you think it's crud

As an example; at the Cannes film festival on its first screening it was booed, and this is what's often bought to peoples attention when they deride this film. What's not said is that on its second screening it received a standing ovation.

One to watch and make up your own mind.

I think the reason why the reception might not be that great is because it's how much you read into a film like this, I've been looking forward to this film for a long time now, I'll be in the queue on one of the first nights. :)

Strange how many resurrected threads I've noticed on OcUK today.

Looks like a very good film i must say, i had never heard of this one before.

Anyway what struch me, it maybe my own personal judgement, is that how the Production Values are that very similar to "300".

Films have bee slowly moving to a different "type" of filming it seems, and only just realised this myself.

The effects and quality levels are very much alike between both trailers.

Ah well, one to look out for me thinks anyway.

The soundtrack has been out for a while, I ordered it from a competitor just before Christmas, must say it's excellent. Clint Mansell is great for soundtracks.

Must be the first film where I have bought the soundtrack before seeing the film though

I saw it in the US a few months ago and absolutely loved it. Very trippy movie, makes you think a lot. Hugh Jackman really gets to show off his acting abilities in this film; his performance is mesmerising.

Not a perfect movie (infact quite a long way off) but so ambitious and different that you can forgive its faults.

Brad Pitt was meant to be the lead in this movie, but he pulled out and the studio dropped a significant portion of the budget. I prefer Hugh to Brad so I was happy he moved away frankly.

I went to see this last night, there were only about 5 other people in the cinema and it was opening night lol. I really enjoyed it, the visuals and the musical score were amazing, I like how it developed and overlapped, very cleverly done, definitely one worth a cinema watch. :)

I would if Vue were showing it here in Southport or Preston alas they aren't because they haven't got a ******* clue.

They are showing Lassie and loads of old kids movies instead
