The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

Not sure what the setup is on the Fury but with VRMs in general they are usually specced for 125C max, 150C absolute max (at which point TSD should be invoked) over most of the range - usually at 125C they are rated in the lower end of 1000s of hours - rising to 50,000+ hours at 95-105C unless they've really cheaped out.

The VRMs on the Fury are rated at 150c

looking good. I am contemplating on getting these blocks myself for my furys :) just bit puzzled by all those mm numbers with different tubes :D been awhile.

Cheers. I have been around computers for years, but never got into custom water cooling, as I preferred putting my money towards more/better components.

That was my first custom loop, and I'm happy it turned out well. It's nothing spectacular, but for my first go, I'm happy with the outcome.

EDIT: Identified the components - the controller is rated for 85C the mosfets are indeed 150C rated and the inductors are also 150C rated.

I believe someone mentioned before that they are the same as the 290(X) but they are actually not - the (big) mosfet seems to be a slightly newer revision and the inductors a different model but equivalent specs (though might be the same thing with slightly different branding).

Keep forgetting that motherboard and GPU, etc. phases are different setups to the stuff I'm used to.

Same kind of deal temp/lifespan wise though - run them at 150C and you'll likely see average lifespan in the low 1000s of hours before they die compared to 10s of thousands of hours or more if they are kept below 125C.

played on GTAV a bit last night with max settings at 1900 by 1200, 4x MSAA,
only setting I turn off was frame scaling as I dont know what it does, was getting between 30 and 45 frames per second consistently, so not exactly great, but it is quite a hard game to run I guess, I think my 780Ti ran 40-50 but at lower resolution and I had to turn some settings down because 3GB VRAM was not enough. Also I am finding that 8GB ram is not enough for this game as it starts paging after a while which makes it unplayable.

Still showing 5 for immediate dispatch if you go into the products page.

Agree, £600 is a mickey take, but I'm not sure I will trust myself come payday, 8 year bonus in this months wage packet

Top right hex screw missing

If you look closely, a screw wouldn't even go in there, as you can see theres no hole, that white thing you can see would stop a screw going in.

Heres a pic with the plate removed (older pump), looks different, no white, and can clearly see the hole where the screw goes in.

** Please don't hotlink images **

Checked pics of the revised pump one, and they are the same, so that screws not in, as it won't go in, theres no hole.

Just got the card back out to have a good close look, and its the screw, the screw is in, it looks to me like, its been overtightened, and the screw head has snapped off.

At this point I'd be terrified of ordering one, with stock so short and so many returns even among the few owners on here chances are AMD's partners are just repackaging refurbished units at this point.

Took a better pic with the flash off, can see the screw is in, the heads snapped off.

Is it possible to get it out with pliars? at least then you could maybe just chase after the manufacturer for a replacement screw, saves messing about with the whole RMA process and probably a better idea if you've got a quiet pump.

Not sure, id need to get the plate off, to see if i could get a grip, and i don't have anything to get them out with, plus, why was it overtightened, has the plate previously been removed ?

Im best off just sending the bugger back, thats bad that tbh.

I imagine that won't effect anything, as long as the warranty will be honoured by the retailer I would at least try it. nothing to lose really

Im going to give them another call, see what they say, as i could be waiting another month or so at this rate, if it ever goes wrong down the line, and i need to send it back to them, all well and good if they say they'll honour it still, as i let them know about it.
