It painted a terrible picture when you look at the results, In his conclusion he's saying things like "Right now, there's absolutely no reason you would buy four R9 Fury X cards, even for single-monitor gaming setups. "

It is yet another clueless 4 way review so don't worry too much about it.

How many people even if they do use 4 way setups would use 3 x 4k monitors anyway. AMDMatt and myself only use single 2160p monitors.

When these people do their review with the GTX 980 Ti cards at the 11520x2160p resolution the results won't be much better than the Fury X ones as 6gb is nowhere near enough for the resolution.

The TitanXs should go ok at the resolution if Tweaktown ever get around to using 4 but again it is a pointless exercise comparing them to GTX 980 Ti's or Fury Xs as the TitanXs are aimed at a different market and are not direct competitors.

Another serious error the reviewers have made is using Metro last light as the game will only support 2 way setups from both vendors lol.

An interesting fact you won't get in any review -

Fury Xs with custom waterblocks run cooler than even those energy efficient GTX 980s 4 up on water.

I have an AIR 540 and a Fury X, with a H105 I couldn't have the AIO at the top, but the rad is thicker than most AIO 38mm (if i remeber rightly). So it depends on which AIO you use I guess.

Now I've gone with an EK 360 L2.0, and now I'll have to do some modding if I want to go crossfire... The air 540 isn't all that watercooling friendly, if I had to choose today I would get a different case.

Fury Xs are very temp sensitive

If you use VC watch the temps.

Kaap, it is yet to be proven if actual core temps are sensitive or VRM temps.
Since we know that air cooled furys top out at 75C and fury Xs never top above 55-60C even when clocking to stock voltage maximums, it is safe to say that core temps are not the issue here. But I do believe when we clock the core higher, VRM temps get affected, even though they are rated for 125C I think.

In your case when you moved to custom water, VRM got better cooling from waterblock. I believe you seen how bad stock water cooling system is for VRMs.

I got a 25mhz improvement in oc going to custom water and the cards run @35C flat out.

yes, but that 25Mhz was due to VRM being cooled much much better. As I said, stock AIO is goo enough to keep the cards under 60C even overclocked. And GPUs shouldn't freak out until they hit above 75C (which is max for fury pro).

I think you will find they do.

GPUs from both brands perform better at lower temps when overclocked.

Fury Xs have HBM which I suspect is very sensitive to temps as it is right next to the GPU.

Even on my 980 Ti the Samsung memory is guaranteed to crash when pushed hard if the temps hit 53C.

I didn't say it was an official slogan...

I don't take too seriously what sales people say at a product launch.

The card is what it is and all in all it is a pretty good card.

I can manage 1150mhz on the core using stock volts on mine which is in line with my 290Xs.

With voltage control and custom waterblocks I am hopeful of getting over 1200mhz on the cores which again will be in line with my 290Xs.

I will give voltage control a go when it is included in Afterburner which probably won't be long.

Does anyone know what's the highest people were able to overclock their Fury X now that the Sapphire Trixx Software supports voltage control for the Fury X?

My cards don't like Trixx so I use MSI Afterburner.

OK. After quite a few hours to install everything tonight, all seems well. Tomorrow I will overclock the lot and see how it copes.

Few things. EK Predator 360 and EK Prefilled Nano Block came together in just matter of seconds after they were fitted. I didn't lose a single drop of liquid with the QDC.
What took hours was the cleaning process of the CPU and especially the GPU. and it dead late atm.

The Paste on the HSF had become almost as hard as "cement" and only having the card 3 weeks.

Have you tried using a spreader like the one in the pic to put the paste on.



I find it very easy to get a even thickness using it.
