The future death of PC gaming...

Lol what the hell do floppy's have to do with PC Gaming?

Gaming has evolved so much since then.

I wonder how many floppy's it would take to hold COD lol

Well in my steam folder Modern Warfare 3 takes 13.8 GB of space, or 14,915,270,346 bytes. So let's assume we can unify this down into a single archive split over many files 1.44MB large.

Then 14,915,270,346 bytes is approximately 14,224.310 MB.

So dividing through we get that the number of floppy disks needed to hold Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is approximately 9878.

It's ok, when pc gaming dies I shall start a company producing pc games and make a fortune from everybody who owns a pc and wants to play games on it :)

Hence why I said it was a bad analogy.

The OP bought up Vinyl records. Them going out of normal use didn't result in the music industry dying.

This is a pointless thread. I think I'll stop posting in it now...

How is an Xbox controller on a HD TV awaked for gaming? If anything app stores makes it easier. It is not PC gaming that in in danger off going away, its Consoles gaming that looks to be replaced with tablet like devices.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hOQq-7AVXk how is this tablet gaming remotely awaked?

I was referring to the more mobile/touch tablets being next to useless for gaming, might aswell just have a 360 or pc plugged into that screen

The more mobile tablets stream wirelessly to TV. Like the Ipad which streams in HD to a HD TV wirelessly and you can link 4 tablets to a TV to play with friends.

The idea is the tablet is the console you take around with you. Why would you need a console when the tablet does gaming just as good as the console along with everything else it does?

You have yet to explain what is awkward about tablets or how they are next to useless for gameing? It seems to me the awkward bits have all been solved with controllers and wired or wireless HD streaming. See the below link

That to me seems far better for watching movies, reading websites then consoles and as a plus plays games just as good as consoles. The new Ipad linked to a HD TV even looks sharper and better then consoles as the resolution is so much higher.

tablets are a whole media centre in one that can be easily controlled from a nice comfy seat or bed all without wires. That is why I see tablets as a big upcomeing threat to consoles.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eavkgg5p8Ew seems fine for gameing and eveything else

i own a ipad , ps3 and a desktop . out of all of them i prefer desktop, the consoles are limited i can use my 360 controller if needed, as someone said tablets are solid to use with virtual thumbsticks

Desktop gaming beats consoles/tablets etc... purely on the fact that tablets are for casual gaming, you can imagine COD on the iPad lol

Yes I can, seeing as windows tablets, support a huge amount of peripherals, including monitors, keyboard and mouse.

Then there's smart TVs. So it depends how you define a desktop as to what's going to happen to it. I do think big clunky desktop machines are going to die out to all but a few hard core people. and be replaced by smarttv/monitors, pc on a stick and tablets/phones.

The pc market like every other market has done is moving away from customisable and upgradability to throw away items.
