It is 1.5x even and this is claimed by Nvidia over there own Titan X and at stock clocks maxwell to Pascal is bigger leap, especially when factoring VR performance. :)

These are not my claims but NVIDIAs! :)

Overclocking out of the box there is an argument to say the 980ti > 1080 gap is smaller and the 980 > 980ti is much bigger.

I know some could be argued as mid range and some top of the range etc but just working on the basis as each new card is the fastest then the above stands.

Adjusted for oc the 980 to 980ti is a bigger leap than the 980ti to 1080

But i suspect that all the VR and more and more people having 1440p high Hz screens and 4k screens is pushing demand for more performance.

The 780ti was and still is the biggest single leap. Even tested today in the latest games is still only about 6% slower than a 980.

Obviously it sold so well, you have the people looking for an upgrade path, the great performance, and then the idiots whereby a little knowledge is dangerous that have been saying "waiting for 16nm" for the last 4 years who have finally bitten.

Ocuk near 2k alone shipped, way more sold!! U.K. Market let's say 3k shipped total so:

UK - 3k
Europe - 10k
Asia - 15k
USA - 10k

Then there will be others and that's shipped, sold is vastly higher. :)

What is there to brag about owning a mondeo - now if there were 1 million Porsche 918 owners (for example) but only 1970 members, then that would be strange :D

My 10k figure was when you had only sold 1000 last week. You have already said that has now doubled as numbers have started to shift.

So your current figure is 38k worldwide, fair enough to assume this was only half last week at 19k. So my guess of a 10k worldwide wasnt a million miles away ;)

My "sold" means shipped, not preorders ;)

But yes I can well see preorders for the 1080 will be in excess of 100k if not 200k looking at the backlog lists.

lol. You have seriously underestimated how many they have shipped and sold at every turn in the last few days in various threads. Just admit defeat :p

not really. last week gibbo had shipped a 1000 so I was right there. A week on that is now 2000 now that they are starting to land in quantity.

Admittly i made a wild stab at worldwide at 10k last week but Gibbo has said thats probably 19k so its not like i said 10k and the actual number is 100k :p

Seem to remember you were claiming 100k shipped last week wasnt you?

Any be whether it was 10k shipped by last week worldwide or 19k, I don't think thats massive numbers.....or is that just me?

Wow

There must have been so many waiting to jump onto the new node makes you wonder just how many where not maxwell users....I suppose that with 8Gb on board is making peeps throw money at nvidia...

So if peeps where on kelper or lower ect and with very little vram on those most will be seeing this as part of justifying the cost with 8Gb along with the node jump and extra speed...
