She has £1800 to spend on the car plus insurnace.

18 year old Girl.

only for town driving so a small car really.

any recomendatoins??

Insurance is going to be £700-£1000 so we are talking under a grand for the car.

Something like a Clio or a 106 will fit the bill.

Yes, a Mondeo would be a far better buy, is easy to park, comfortable, easy to drive, more reliable, cheaper and not that much more expensive to run, but she is a girl. Most girls have no logic whatsoever when buying a car, so you'll never get her in a Mondeo.

Some girls a different, maybe she is one of the very few

we found out that insurance for her on a Corsa is only £550, which i am pretty annoyed about as for me its £1000+

give me some idea of cars and we will spec up some quotes

Try sugesting a mondeo to her. You never know, she might like it. Plus they are much safer then a matchbox car of a corsa

her response

"are you kiding, that is way to big for me to park. no way"

lol

Get fox to talk her into it ;)

And tell her she needs to learn to park some day :p

Mk2 Golf ;) Though it'll be a love or hate thing with them :) and it might be a bit of a pain with the lack of power steering.

I think you'll find she can afford something a *tad* more modern than the 80's. You'll be recommending some flares next

K11 Micra, why didn't I think of that. Great small cars.

Don't get a Swift, just don't. The latest model is OK but the older ones really are dreadful

Interesting the Swift, when available, held the record for the car that had been on sale the longest time with no changes.

Yes folks, that 2003 Swift over there is exactly the same as that 1988 one :p

Better than the Mondeo suggestion though. Personally i think a mk2 Golf would be great :D and why should she only consider new cars?

IMO they are safer and have less chance of braking down.

There are still some golden oldies i would get though but they are out of her price range
