The GTX Titan X owners thread.

Hoping that gta supports sli and the witcher3 too. Is there any need for aa at 4k? How well does 1440p scale on a 4k monitor? Think I've got a bit of buyers remorse at the mo! Roll on next week so I can what these cards can do.

Still getting hard lock ups in some games on loading or exiting chaps, any advice? (Note - not doing it during actual gameplay)

Far cry 3 just done it on loading. Have to press reset button on the comp. Can't even ctrl alt delete to bring up task manager and quit. Is this likely to be a driver issue, or a faulty card??? Never had any issues like this before I put the TX in (780Ti SLI before).

You'll be fine once you see 4k goodness. DA inquisition actually does go over 40fps when running around the countryside i have found today.

AA is dependant on seating distance and eyesight. Never use MSAA (too heavy), FXAA and TXAA robs 4k of it's sharp look. The only AA that does not destroy detail and removes jaggies is SMAA injection and even on an ultra custom setting you will lose 5fps max. This though is too clean up a few minor jaggies from very close range. You should be fine without AA to be honest.

My memory is fuzzy but i don't think G-sync works when not using the native monitor resolution, could be wrong though. Might check later on. Any non native res looks dodgy on 4k monitors to me.

I really wish this thread would go away.:)

Resistance is failing and my wallet is running scared :D

I do loans if you want but with a 25% margin :D

Have you cleaned your PC recently ? Have you tried reseating your card and changing around power cables ?

How about uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers?

Try your card stock to be 100% sure, you might be running to high an OC.

Put overclock back to stock on the TX. Still doing it.

I've managed to find a standardised test for the problem at least. 3D mark Firestrike extreme will hard lock on the loading screen of test #2. Every time. Test 1 runs fine. Test 2 loading screen comes up - bang - hard lock and I have to press the comp reset button.

Going to uninstall nvidia drivers and try latest hotfix ones. If that doesn't work, I'm really stumped.

EDIT - *****touch massive amounts of wood***** uninstalling nvidia drivers and running DDU in safe mode, then reinstalling the latest 350.05 hotfix drivers and physx, seems to have sorted it! 3dmark firestrike extreme tests all run fine now. Hopefully should have sorted the lock ups in games loading too. Hopefully.

As an example i am playing DA inquisition at the moment at 4k, max settings with no AA and sli runs at 60fps but there is an sli issue causing mist and fog to look wrong. So i decided to use just 1 OC gpu instead and i am still pulling above 30fps at all times. But no more than 40 at a guess, average 35fps and with G-sync this is fine for this type of game. With other gpu's i would have had sub 30fps. People would say drop settings but i'm too much of a graphics whore for that. So yeah sli can still be a pain sometimes but as someone else said at least 1 titan x is enough for playable 4k fps without dropping graphic settings.
See, now this is what gets me... a £900 GPU that can only run a game at 30-40FPS!? These cards claim to be "built for 4K" and promise "incredible performance"... what a joke. So much for "smooth, consistent frame rates, with industry-leading frame times"... makes you wonder how these cards will be performing with AAA titles a year from now. Sad times. :(

What I find hilarious is people aren't actually upset about this. Everyone LOVES their Titan's. There's something of an Emperor's new clothes thing going on here.

The games that run at 30-40 FPS are limited to DA:I, Dying Light and Witcher 2 ubersampling all @ 4K maxed out (there might be more but out of a big library those are what I found to be "problematic").

To be honest it's not a problem as any high-end multi-GPU solution (2 cards) would run at those frames anyway. (other than ofcourse the SLI Titan Xs that would be much higher)

I was running ME3 with 4K textures 1440p (DSR), 4X MSAA w/ 4X SGSSAA. No probs over 100fps usually. But then the texture shimmer started bugging me so I sighed, whacked the DSR up to 4K, removed the AA and still managed about 90. Shimmer gone and now my prob is I need a gsync monitor for the tearing and wild framerate variance. :D

Think I might just soldier on for a bit and see what happens in the market, but I've been bitten by the 4K bug for sure.
