The 'Jees that's awful spelling' thread ..

Evening all. What's going on here then?

I see posts here sometimes, and I think about replying with "Check your post, you spelled a couple of words correctly in there".

That's ok, it's not a word anyway ;).

Wikipedia says it is.
is a political position that originated in 19th-century Britain in opposition to proposals for the disestablishment of the Church of England, that is, to remove the Anglican Church's status as the state church of England, Ireland and Wales.

I'm a teacher so pick up on spelling all the time - one that irritates me is "definitely" spelt "definatley" or similar.

I also see in my kids' books, thanks to Cheryl Cole et al, the word "allowed" is apparently now spelt "aloud" as in "I wasn't aloud".

I know this is a grammar one rather than a spelling one but was coming out of B and Q the other day and they had a massive sign up saying "If YOUR happy with your experience today, tell us on www.diy.com" - seriously, if a major company can't get simple things like that right...

Oh dear. I fear I'm a sad act who has nothing better to do than notice spelling and grammar errors :(
