Been working on a contract in Slough for 2 months in that time, roughly 35 miles each way journey from where I live. So I have to take in the A3, M25 and M4.

Just been rear-ended (oooh er) for the third time whilst sat in stationary traffic jam conditions by another blithering idiot who's either asleep or eye balling porn on his mobile.
Two weeks ago, had my MX5 written off by a 90 year old who's Honda "went mad" and crashed into my car whilst it was parked up.

WTF has happened to driving standards. Sick of wazocks insisting on having no breaking distance behind me, not having a clue about queue theory, believing that they're more important than anyone else, so can cut into the exit queue from a motorway with just metres to go etc. Then we have the litany of people incapable of changing a blown bulb, signalling, turning off their fog lights, turning on their lights in the dark.

Just GRRRRRRRRRRR.

Not just London - my parents have had people go into the back of them twice recently(ish) in queues by people who were probably paying more attention to their mobile phones (in both cases saw them on their phones while stationary) - the last one about a month ago kind of did them a favour though as the car was written off and the replacement is a much nicer vehicle.

I don't live in London. But apparently if you drive a Range Rover you can jump red lights, drive on pavements and ignore give way signs in my town.

And yea I'm probably going to fit a rear cam as well at some point.

Standards are pretty shocking these days! Makes me want to get rear dashcams as well.

Maybe get a huge yank truck like an F350, then any rear ending would destroy their car and hardly scratch yours ;)

Hopefully their insurance isn't a PITA.

All cars are pretty soft now, they are made that way on purpose :/

If you want a road tank it needs to be something old. Pre-airbags.

I've actually considered before an F150/Raptor just because anyone hitting it would do more damage to their own vehicle heh.

On the road....
I got rear ended in Tottenham a few weeks back, thankfully zero damage to my trailer (HGV) but the numpty who hit me got out ****** and blinding that it was my fault that he’d driven into me, I was parked with my engine off and hazard lights on waiting to unload in Brantwood Road.

Made a right mess of his Ford Galaxy, he hit me hard enough to make me spill my coffee that was sat on my dashboard.

He soon shut up when I told him the reverse park sensors on the trailer were cameras (there not!) and he then drove away despite having no front lights whatsoever and coolant pouring from what was his radiator, a complete cretinous chancer.

My wife was in London yesterday taking an Uber, and the Uber driver just ploughed into the back of a stationery BMW, which was pushed into another stationery BMW.

Seems to be a thing.

Was the Uber car a BMWs as well?

And people wonder why premiums on BMWs are so high :D

But with having cameras on your car, what if you end up incriminating yourself by having them. Say you round a bend and roll into a ditch killing pedestrians in the process and you wake up in a coma and they have all the footage? Or just the simple case of speeding or doing something wrong and being pulled over...they spot the cam. Can they demand to retrieve it? Do people password protect/lock the storage that gets written to?

I got rear ended on a an A road a few years back after the traffic suddenly dropped to a standstill.

Thankfully he'd managed to slow down enough that it was only a slight bump and no damage.

He looked like the typical van that's probably on the cheapest set of pads, and likely just enough pad for it to be legal.

Now whenever i'm on the motorway if i suddenly see the traffic drop a considerable speed that requires a good amount of braking, i stick on the hazards. I find people are much more responsive to slowing/stopping when they can see hazards on than just assuming traffic has dropped 10mph for example.

Don't drive like a tool and you won't have to worry about incriminating yourself.
