The King of Limbs is here

Wow, this came from absolutely nowhere and I'm a massive Radiohead fan!!!

Stunned and speachless quite frankly. I wasn't expecting this.

Just goes to show you that bands like Radiohead don't need a prolonged marketing campaign spanning over several weeks up until Christmas to achieve success!!!

/Sly dig over.

I imagine you are confused at the way I worded it - I am a bit too.

The album is being released today - it was meant to be tomorrow, but has been brought forward 24hrs.

Pre Orders are supposed to be going out now and new orders will also.

"0.14am: A representative from XL records has just sent this email out:

Radiohead have brought forward the digital release of their new album "The King Of Limbs" by 24 hours with the album now being sent to those who pre-ordered it earlier this week. It is also available for new orders through www.radiohead.com at a fixed price of £6. A special edition is also available.

With everything ready on their website, the band decided to bring forward the release by a day rather than wait until the planned date of Saturday, Feb 19 to deliver the music."

Will edit as I go, I'm loving the trip hop beats in the album.

Track 1 - Bloom - Meh, just a bit bland.
Track 2 - Morning Mr Magpie - Very energetic and driving.
Track 3 - Little By Little - Great off-kilter rhythm and very vulnerable vocals, reminds me of Kid A/Amnesiac vocals. Favourite so far.
Track 4 - Feral - Again just a bit bleh doesn't really go anywhere.
Track 5 - Lotus Flower - Just kind of goes on and on with no real resolution. I'm seeing a theme.
Track 6 - Codex - Decent slow-burner and the kind of thing you'd put on at about 1am.
Track 7 - Give Up The Ghost - Stripped down guitar track, very atmospheric vocals.
Track 8 - Separator - Great beat, but again never really gets going.

Overall it's alright, but not exactly a phenomenal 'one track is better than the next' album. Probably about a 6/10 for me.

Downloading now and going to have a listen. Just watched the Lotus Flower video and I think watching Thom dick around to it made it seem a little better than the song actually is.

Don't know what to make of it... It's good but it doesn't seem to have those big 'moments' that their previous albums did, like the middle part in Reckoner or Idioteque on Kid A. I need to listen to it more though. Codex sends chills up my spine.

I'd like to buy it, but the site seems to be too busy. Keep getting 505 errors. :(

Edit: Scratch that, finally worked. Downloading now !

Don't like Feral (it'll probably end up being my favourite in a week :p )

It's so different from In Rainbows, lovely to listen to, but not sure how much I would enjoy the songs if I go to see them on tour. Not exactly anything to sing along to, or go nuts to (Reckoner/15 Step/Bodysnatchers)

Codex, Give Up the Ghost and Morning Mr Magpie are my favourites so far :)

Quite like Codex.
None of the others really do anything for me. :(
Shame, as I really rather enjoy their music generally, and liked In Rainbows very much.

4th time listening to it (on my 'proper' headphones this time) and I'm really liking it. The intricacy of the tracks shine through on a good set of headphones. So yeah, The King of Limbs is one of those albums that benefit from a good set-up.
