The last thing you bought purely after seeing an advert for it.?

Happens fairly frequently with films and games, though it's usually trailers on youtube (linked to via forums) which make my mind up.

As for adverts on TV for "tangible" products, no, not directly. At least not that I can recall. However, such advertising is as much about product awareness than actual persuasion. If the consumer sees adverts for "Bob's awesome washing powder" year after year when growing up, then he may be more inclined to buy it when he needs washing powder. That is somewhat different from seeing the advert and having the compulsion to go out and buy a box of washing powder, but just as effective from a commercial point of view.

I'm sure that I've been affected by the more subliminal advertising over the years in some way or other.

I don't watch adverts that's what the remote is for. Can't say I notice adverts anywhere else but then I walk around with my head up my **** most of the time & am in my own little world.

:O 8 film harry potter dvd boxset for £20 from HMV.

I actually own a few of them already but i was fairly drunk and it seemed like an amazing offer :D

Good question. Difficult to say as these days there is so much info available (internet) that it is pretty rare an advert alone would win me over alone as opposed to just putting the idea in my head prior to further research.

Probably a book based on a tube billboard, something like that.
