Still not convinced I need to upgrade my 3Ghz Q6600 yet, certainly not for games.
As far as I can tell unless you're into rendering or encoding there are plenty of better places to spend the upgrade cash to get most impact on your computing experience (peripherals, furniture, audio)

with a 5850 i can play most games on full @ 1680x1050 even arma 2
You can pick up an i7 setup relatively cheap now secondhand.
