I've just listed a CD on eBay as I've got a Vinyl copy. The album (Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers) is about 2 months old now, so I was expecting to get a few quid for it.

I then see that some cretin of a seller has literally about 50 identical listings, all of which are going for 99p. This is really annoying. I now lose out because of this idiot, and what's more is that I bet he is selling illegal copies.

Anyone else find this?

Yes because if ebay enforced a rule of only one of each thing is to be allowed, it would be REALLYYYY GOOOOOOOOD.

She could be a wholesaler.

well if he/she/it is a wholesaler then they're going to send themselves out of business pretty damn fast selling genuine CDs for 99p.

I agree that its pretty hard to police multiple items but I'd bet my backside they're fakes and that the seller has very low feedback (ie is pulling a scam) iirc you can't do multiple buy it now auctions until you have a fair amount of feedback so I bet these are all individual listings.

I used to be a powerseller but I got so fed up with the idiots who either steal your listings or try and get you to send stuff to nigeria that I gave it up.

I'd suggest that multiple items, especially in the same category etc should also be limited to sellers with a certain level of feedback, not much, say 10 or 20+ which is pretty easy to get if you get into ebay.

Its not as annoying as what people do with tickets, weather people like it or not, i used to buy and sell tickets on ebay, the trouble is what happens is, you start off and the tickets are worth say £40 each, this initial figure is usally double the face value, so the majority of people list them on ebay at that price...

Then comes along mr i am going to sell them faster than you who lists all his at like £35 so everyone else drops theres etc etc... eventully resulting in nobody making money out of them at all, that isnt competition thats just pointless, especially when there will always be a demand for sold out gig tickets on ebay, its not like you need to encourage sales via price.

God i hate competition as well....

obvious copies selling is looked at by E-bay and they do end listings, so dont be surprised if it dissapears, its so hard to police though that a lot do slip through. Dont worry people who actually want a genuine copy of the CD wont expect one from them surely!

Got a link because I can't find 50 identical listings of that album from any seller on there for 99p.

I guess it is a bit stupid to put loads on there with a low starting price as you're devaluing all your own items as well as others, but it's up to them how many they list and you've got to deal with competition :)

Jesus Christ what is it with the attitude on these boards. You're all so hostile it's like being stuck in some testosterone infested classroom.

There is NO advantage for either of us. They are making next to nothing for each CD. If the cretin actually "expanded" out the listings over time, they would naturally make more money as they are restricting supply.

You see the ones at the top. This morning that seller had about 4 times as many listed.

Just take the cd down to your local exchangy record shop thing - You'll probably get a quid or two for it, though its not that good an album anyways.

I know, isnt it terrible when one person just wants to get rid of it, rather than make a profit. If you want to make a profit, start a shop.

People never like hearing what they don't want to hear.

I'd just wait until they've sold all of their particular CD then advertise yours, or try and flog it to a mate! :)

Yes the occasional person does mate, but most of the people instigating the price drops as i mentioned usally have 20+ tickets themselves so i dought there "just wanting to get rid of it"

Learn to live with it then. I sell on ebay to be rid of stuff, not particularly bothered about the price. If you want to make a profit then you should be able to be watching these guys who undercut the market, and know that they'll be there. Like I said, if you want to make money that badly, buy a shop :p
