I'd hazard a guess that there are more Cobra's around with L98's, some of them turbocharged, than there are Cobras with LS3's fitted
The twin-turbo thing would be pretty neat, though.
You'll definitely want to change the box, though - or, at least, remove the overdrive assembly
Fingers crossed! You never know what might happen. I'll keep an eye out for any based in the UK though, if you're looking for one....

I think the problem really is that when you consider the potential competition (I.E practically every 90s Japanese 'GT' car) they don't quite make sense. The competition is usually cheaper, newer, more plentiful (in terms of examples on the used market) and have the steering wheel on the correct side.
You've also got to remember that the likes of the MKIV Supra beat the Corvette in its home market back in the day. I don't see any reason why that'd be any different a few years down the line.
By the way, I'm not staying the Corvette is a bad car, but I think the reasons why they are overlooked are quite clear.

One thing they have going for them is that the American versions are infinitely more characterful and engaging, and have much more respect and presence

'Beat' in terms of press reviews. In every single article that I can remember seeing that includes testing a Supra and a Corvette (and there are a few) the Supra comes out on top in just about everything.
That's probably not incorrect - but like I say the Corvette was almost a decade old at that point, and not far off being replaced by the C5 Difficult to compare the two on an equal footing

I know that it isn't exactly 'fair' that the two should be compared, but they will be. The competition could only compete with whatever Chevy had on the Market at the time, and 'unfortunately' that car was something with underpinnings from 1984.

That's base model price though, isn't it? One of the (MT) articles I'm looking at puts a C4 ZR1 at $68k 'as tested' ($31k for the ZR1 package alone!?
) while the Supra weighed in at $49k 'as tested'. The LT1 seems to have been cheaper than a Supra, but even then we're only looking at a difference of $5k... I'll say it again. I'm not knocking the Corvette, I think they are very cool cars and have their merits, but I think the reason why they are overlooked in this country has less to do a few bad stereotypes and more to do with the fact that the money will buy you a newer, 'better' car with more choice (in terms of examples for sale over here) with the steering wheel on the right side. Of course for enthusiasts this doesn't matter, but that's sort of the point. They'd only seem to make sense for an enthusiast.

Never taken the wrong way! Just interested, as always, in other peoples views. I'm no die hard fan either, hence why I drive everything I can get my hands on - they're just something I have a soft spot for, for various reasons
I think the fact that they still make Corvettes says a lot of things, in some respect. Having driven, and been a passenger, in several of both, I know which I'd rather have
