Hi,

Got myself one of these phones now, gotta say i do like it.

Although i am finding motor blur skin to be slowing things down, is there an easy (complete noob to it) way to remove it at all?

Just install a different launcher.
Something like either Launcher Pro or ADW launcher.

They are far more customisable, faster and nicer.

Yep, launcher pro should be the first thing you download

(apparently 2.2.1 makes it much smoother, really should try it out...)
