The new astra's brake lights

Pretty much everyone i've seen so far, the brake lights flicker on and off at random when the brake pedal is pressed, whether the car is moving or stationary. Surely not all the drivers of these cars have vibrating right feet

Weirdly enough I noticed this exact thing a few days ago! Wondered if it was just a dodgy car

The "Adaptive Brake Lights" are only supposed to flash when the ABS activates, why would it do it when stationary?

My mother bought a new Astra this month, I will have to inform her of this particular issue as I can see it being incredibly dangerous eventually. How does this even get past quality control?

The crazy manner in which they flash when stationary makes it blatently obvious that it's a fault anyway, and not something that is meant to happen.

I was behind an Astra today and can't say I noticed any problems with the brake lights. This one looked like it had normal filament bulbs.

Did they do any models with LED bulbs instead?

Not when slowing down slowly for a junction, unless the ABS is activated everytime you press the pedal

Its just http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-width_modulation ... Although they shouldn't be pulsing so slow as so cause a strobe effect.

I've seen the ferrari's etc showing flickering LEDs (especially prominent on film), this is definitely not the same effect.

It's a slow flicker, and it doesn't seem to matter how hard the driver is pressing the pedal, don't think i've seen a single one so far without the fault.
