The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Price of the 600EX-RT is actually coming down, it started at £675 and has fallen below the £600 mark. The 600EX started around £560 and has dropped to £493 in some places. I would expect the price drops to continue over the next few months as stocks of the 580EX MKII dry up. The 600EX prices were probably capped artificially high to ensure retailers didn't take a hit on the 580EX

You can buy the 600RT version for £425 already and the 600EX for £399. I'd rather pay a bit extra for those now than what the 580's are going for.

Hopefully this year I will pick up two 600RT's.

Picked up my first ever flash today :)

The cute little 270 EX ii

Really happy with it, recycle times are fast, and fills a room nicely :D

What made you went for this model? Seeing you have a 5D2 I am going to guess you are not exactly on a tight budget. The lack of swivel head is a big negative for me.

£400? Amazing, I'll upgrade my 580s soon then!

HDEW cameras guys :)

£399 and £425. I will defo then buy the ST-E3-RT to go with it for ETTL OCF for cheaper than me using pocket wizards :)

Even on digital rev they are now £450. It won't be long before they are much more commonly around this price :)

The 5d is heavy as it is, add the 24-70L, and you've got a certified wrist breaker, i just didn't want to add any extra weight to my setup.

Currently most of my paid work is in video, so i've got some LED lights to help film, but for pictures, which is still a bit of a hobby compared to my video work, i thought i'd start off with something relatively cheap, see what results i get and move on from there.

Yeah the lack of swizzle and assist light are disadvantages (it buzzes light when you can't find focus), but i still like it none the less :)

The current collection :D

(Also have a 40D & 17-85 as a spare/backup, picture was taken with those)

Thank you :) Not a cheap hobby though! :(

I was collecting and sorting all my boxes out and into one place as they'd become a bit spread out throughout the house and suddenly thought I ought to do a "group shot" while I had them handy :)

Haha nice! Could I have started a trend here? :)

10-22 & 50 1.4 in common I see. May well end up with one or two extension tubes soon for the macro. Didn't bother with the single hood box I have :p

There is a thread "show us your boxes" somewhere but it never caught on, but there is a massive one on POTN though.

I might join in later, just sold my 30D so thought I'd take a snap of the box before I send it off. :p

Yep the 10-22 and 50 f/1.4 are really nice lenses. Only sad thing is the 10-22 will not migrate with me when I eventually go full frame :(

Disappointed not to have seen a 5D3 box from you yet Ray! ;) :D
