is e-infinity a grey import site ! ?

Though the Tamron is a lot bigger than the Sigma and the Optical Stabilisation would be nice in the lens. I can live with out that if the IBIS in the A6600 is good enough ! ?
I am looking for a sharp lens and f2.8 will help low light situations as APSC will struggle more than Full Frame in low light. Though I have a Canon EOS 7Dii I do own a Sony NEX5R with 18-55 OSS f3.5-5.6 lens, so the focal length will be ok for me as I use this camera for city breaks and for hand / carry on luggage.
One of my other Sony E mount lenses is 50mm f1.8 which is pretty sharp !

Another reason I want to get the A6600 is the eye AF detect AF which is IMO a game charger !

E-infity is grey import, but they're very reliable. I've bought a lot of lenses from them over the years and picked up an a7riiia for about £500 less than it was going for on Wex at the time. You get a 1 year warranty, they have a good returns process and delivery takes about 7 - 10 days.

Finally upgraded from the 55-250 which I found to be pretty useless to this…

Was graded as excellent on MPB and it's basically like new. So far very, very impressed with it!

Been using the 5D3 since it came out and been looking at the mirrorless scene the last few months. Pretty much decided on n R5 but now that more hands on has come out for the 6D Mark II, I think it looks like the perfect upgrade path. The 5D3 does me fine still but I want better autofocus with eye tracking, along with better low light as I tend to shoot more high ISO stuff.

I'm pretty much sold on it, and at around £2700 or less, seems perfect. Obviously be using the EOS RF adapter with ring to retain full use of my EF L lenses.

Now give me a release date dammit!

40fps RAW! And the pre-shoot RAW feature is absolutely amazing to have, as Fro says, no other camera brand on the market has this feature. It features on the R7 too though but R7 is of no interest to my needs.

Oh forgot to mention the best spec feature that I'd been looking for too, as I shoot wide apertures a lot, I had been looking for options that offer beyond 1/8000s as I have found in sunny conditions often I will hit the 1/8000 limit of the 5D3. Turns out the R6/R5 also have the same max shutter speed whereas the R3 has 1/64,000s - The R6 II has 1/16000s which would be bang on.

That Body/Lens combination is absolutely beautiful.

Whilst i don’t hate them, new fangled kit like my a7 iv and various lenses just lack that charm.

The Sony gear and any of the modern cameras are a tool. I wonder if that thinking will shift over time, I’m sure they thought these OM cameras were a tool too in the 70’s compared to the 1915 Kodak I bought yesterday.

When everyone shoots with tiny smartphones for everything one day…perhaps the feelings towards current mirrorless will be a warmer reception.

I've gone a bit flash. Just bought a Ricoh GR III from Park Cameras in London as it's really small and pocketable and means it's a camera I'll always have with me. And today I received a dinky little wireless flash unit from Photospecialist in Netherlands. It comes with coloured gels and a tiny cube shaped trigger that goes on the hotshoe. I can choose to reattach the flash to the trigger or hold it off camera. I'll be mostly holding it in off camera in my left hand for being more discrete and allowing more flexibility on where I want to direct the flash. I'll just be doing street photography with it, daytime as well as night. Neve done flash and I'm quite excited as I like the look it gives. Check Dougie Wallace, I like the look he gets. :)

Decided against the R5 in the end, the R6 II looked really good but the overall costs are still pretty high and the battery life not up to where I want yet with mirrorless, and the rolling shutter still is a thing unless you go R3 which is twice the price basically.

I ended up buying the 5D4 at £1500 and also ordered a 100mm 2.8L Macro IS as just sold the Sigma 85mm 1.4 EX.

5D4 has usable ISO 12,800 so this is fantastic as I shoot un-flashed a lot in low light so knowing I have that much ISO range now without worrying about noise is excellent. Improvements over the 5D3 noticed so far is that better lens corrections built in, AF system is obviously better, more customisation and more details on through the viewfinder.

The macro lens has been a long time coming, been using the 35mm 1.4 L II for close-up stuff and it's been fine, but it's not the magnification I really want to play with, so the lesser used 85mm 1.4 had to be shifted on to make way for the 100.

Think I will be fine until the next gen of mirrorless come out DSLR battery life and stuff.

Slightly annoyed that the 5D4 only comes with an E6N battery not an E6NH as I bought a H ages ago so was expecting to now have two lol.

So ended up with a 5D4 + 100mm 2.8 L IS for less than teh cost of one R5 or R6II body only - That'll do me.

That 135 F2L on the 5D3, that lens has been absolutely amazing for such an old lens. no weather sealing or anything, just pure optics. Sharp edge to edge and so fast to focus.

So after owning a Canon 40D from new in 2009 I finally traded it against a Canon 70D back in July. Unfortunately I found this 'excellent' condition, only 500 shot, body had an issue with the control wheel skipping or being non responsive now and then. Finally decided to do something about it with before the 6 month warranty from MPB ran out so after a few conversation with them I was able to pay a bit more and have it replaced with an 'excellent' condition, 10,000 shot, Canon 80D. The 70D also seemed to be missing a few features that I expected that the 80D certainly has, so worked out well in the end!

Also, the Lowepro backpack I've owned for over 10 years I have upgraded with a Peak Design Everyday Zip 15L. The smallest backpack they do, but still a touch bigger than I had, and it still fits the 80D with 17-40L attached, the 70-300L in the bottom and the camera strap, 50mm lens and zoom lens hood in the top part. Managed to get £55 off it so made it not quite as expensive too!

I know I know, old news etc :p Just got round to playing with the new settings as I had a morning free to do that, quite pleased with the level of additional customisation inc the new custom quick menu you can plot how you like and easy to toggle between stock screen and custom (just press info button after pressing Q when in shoot mode):

Also, ISO 12,800, no noise reduction:

I first got a taste of it on the 6D Mark II when I had that as my backup cam but always felt something was off about the screen, the pixel quality and colours never felt right even against my much older 5D3. It's nice to have the really responsive screen on the 5D4 though and the quality seems just right. It's something I will miss when I go mirrorless, but will retain the 5D4 as the backup so it won't be far away I guess :p

Though I never used the quick menu, I got so used to the UI with Canon I was able to do everything I wanted 1 handed without looking at any screens, from changing ISO, aperture and position of the focus point in the viewfinder. That's all I really needed. Could change it all without looking, t in less time than picking the camera up and put it to my eye. Which is what bugs me in these new camera trend, that put all these separate dials...people want the experience, the gear, rather than the photos.

What is good though is Canon's LCD is just nicer to look at.

Yes the eye tracking AF and 40fps electronic shutter is immense - But that alone isn't enough to sway me when just the fundamental things like battery life and price are not where I feel they should be. £1500 for a brand new 5D4 vs £2879 for an R5 is a massive difference for what would be some notable advancements, but not enough to warrant £1379 extra cash really, and then you have to buy more batteries at £120 each because you're only gonna get half the battery life!

For the rest of the AF though, I've got so used to the AF system on the 5D series that it's second nature now, DOF preview button is remapped to be instant hold AI servo, so tracking is no problem although it's not as precise as R series which uses 100% of the sensor as AF points lol.

If I bought right now into mirrorless, only the R3 fits all of my needs, and that is £4294 lowest brand new price

I'll save up over this year extra cash from shoots and get one I reckon if there's no new news about the R5 mark 2.
