The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

Got mine from Argos, it's a TFT but sod it it's as good if not better than my iphone screen and functionality remains the same, so balls to OLED.

Wow, totally forgot about Argos, not used it in years!

Had a quick check on-line today, the Heanor and Alfreton (Derbyshire) stores have a limited amount of stock that you can reserve and pick up in store. I've reserved mine in the Heanor one.

I was at the Orange shop in Hanley and they wanted £120 (they had got loads in if you live in Stoke) so I got my Samsung Galaxy out, searched Argos in the Stoke area and the only 1 left was at an Argos near me which I reserved there & then (so don't bother with Argos in Stoke)..

What image file?

Whats the deal with the OLED versions as well, are they 'supposed' to come with OLED versions?

I'm pretty sure mines TFT, but meh, still damn clear atm
 
Seemed silly to make a new thread for just a quick question, so posting here :).

If I was to make a few app purchases, would they be registered to my google account? Getting a new GiffGaff SIM sent out and a decent sized memory card, so will I still have the paid for apps?
 
Ah, sorry, missed that one :).

The only one I found with OLED stock was in Stockton, Wellington Shopping Centre is what's called I think. It's like a lane tucked behind the high street. The staff members seemed oblivious to the change from OLED to TFT, but they let me have a look at a few, was at least 1 left when I was there on Saturday and another with a loose back.

Others I tried were Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Teeside Retail Park which all sold out of San Frans weeks ago and have since had new deliveries of the TFT's.

EDIT: They should also be able to put one aside for you if you call them.
 
Blue tint problem on TFT

I'm having a bit of an issue with a TFT San Francisco - flashed 3 OLED ones with no problem, but after flashing the TFT model, there's now a strong blue tint on the screen... and I can't seem to find anyway to fix it. I'm definitely using a TFT compatible rom from MoDaCo.

Anyone got any ideas?

As a total ignoramus i did exactly the same but it proved easy to remedy:
Flash using using Orange flash 2509 if not using this then just reflash with this then use a Rom that is TFT friendly there is a nice list 'er:

Anyone who has a TFT screen on one of these, how good/bad is the screen in your opinion? Is it crystal clear to look at and read off, any dead pixels on arrival?

I'm assuming that stockists only have the TFT version so i'd like to get some feedback please, thanks!

Mine TFT SF is fine. Looks great to be honest. No dead pixels or problems.

I am just trying to work out how to flash it. I've been reading;

Cheers, how are you liking it as a phone? Is it quick and easy to use? I've read that the 600Mhz processor can be sluggish :(

Asking as i've reserved yet again at Argos, still can#t make my mind up about this phone lol.

I haven't witnessed any slow down at all. I've gone on the Android Market and downloaded a couple of applications.

The shareprice.co.uk is simply fantastic. Not only does it give the same information as the website it updates itself when you like. Colours/presentation are fantastic.

I downloaded Angry Birds too and that works well.

Also, Youtube works great. Using Wifi it doesn't buffer on my network. Really smooth.

It really is a neat bit of kit and a definite upgrade to the Nokia 5800 I had previously.

I don't think you would regret buying it. I know I paid £79 and it amazing value for what you get. Solid build too.

I am going to try and stick on some photos/movies on it later to see how they are. Oh, and I need to download Opera :)
