Must Play Games List

I would like us a community to create a True Must-play & Great Games Games list.

To do this I think we need to follow some guidelines. Feel free to question these but we need a starting point
I want Must-play to be the ultimate games hence the definition restrictions

Game: Witcher 3

Reason Why
This Game had be gripped after playing around 3 hours in, I spent 180 hours playing this game before either expansion came out & it made me laugh & it made me cry. I stopped playing the main story in hope it would never end, I eventually caved & finished the game. I became an Emotional wreck after I hit the end i was Fully drained & did not want the story to end. I felt like Geralt & I was one one and the same.

It took me 3 years to be able to pickup another game & finish it.

requested List: Must-Play

Must play criteria is a bit naff? Witcher 3 doesn't do that for instance .....
again happy to adjust we need a starting point, I don't want must-play to have everything under the sun. & for me the Witcher did hit those points. (thus we need 3 votes to make it so) Witcher 3 is just an example to test how it will look.

Lol, it’s a computer game, not a 2 week enlightenment experience with the Dalai Lama!
You'll be surprised what kind of emotions and thoughts games can drag put of a person. There can also be a huge impact on people's lives just from one game.

Skyrim has left a huge following in its wake due to its music for example. The Mass Effect endings pulled a lot of emotion out of people.

I would argue that the media form of "games" and "gaming" has a huge impact on people's lives and more important than the Dalai Lama ;).

Not that I want to get too serious on this subject or anything:D

Amazing story/gameplay is the only criteria that fits for me really in 40 years of gaming. :p

May also need genres....like RPG, FPS , etc ....also the "tediously long cutscene stories with bang average repetitive gameplay and combat which is good for a while but boring soon and has no dungeons" aka Witcher 3 category :D

Don’t think I have felt anything like that from a game to be honest. I did enjoy Witcher 3 for example, but not on that level. Maybe closest for me is Deus Ex or Final Fantasy 7 when I first played them 20+ years ago. Those two gave me the feels, but again not on the level you describe, but close.

I think it is hard to make a must play list as most people are different. Someone might stick a COD or Battlefield type game in there which I would find laughable for example.

Game: planescape : torment

Reason Why
This Game had me gripped after 1 hour in, I spent countless hours playing this game it made me laugh & it made me cry. This game made me evaluate what was important in life and changed how I interacted with people in the world in a good way. I made sure I did everything in this game how I would do it, i became an Emotional wreck after I hit the end i was Fully drained & did not want the story to end. I felt like the nameless one & I was one and the same. Because we are

I've never been hit by a game like it since

That groundbreaking RPG with the guy who has all those cybernetic implants, who must try and unravel some weird corporate conspiracy, whilst also being free to explore a cyberpunk dystopian city and take part in numerous well written side quests. It's set in the future; 2060 or thereabouts, I seem to recall. Deus Ex! That's the one...

Leisuire Suit Larry made me feel emotions, it made me rethink girls and I then wanted my gf to play it with me.

Think we need a better, well rounded criteria and a voting panel or something, because I thought TW3 was the biggest bore fest I've ever played.

exactly why you need at least 3 votes to get on the list, Witcher 3 is their an example until we get more votes for another game

Arma 3, 2013 mili-sim with fairly complex controls and quite a level of depth of gameplay. Graphics still look good. Spent 1350 hours playing this game but haven't played it for a while now. My routine used to be Arma 3 from early afternoon to 6pm'ish everyday, multiplayer, KOTH maps. Almost every mod imagineable has been made for it thanks to the free mod tools.

You'll easily find 3 fans for TW3 though, it's not a bad game by any means but I wouldn't say it would be a must play game as it's not a genre I felt compelled to immerse myself in so think the criteria needs much more work. Games are very subjective so it's not going to be easy but think you've got a good plan.

Sure I could round up 3 people who all enjoyed BF Hardline for instance and would be able to say it's a must play title, when clearly it was far from that.

Theme Hospital
Theme Park
Transport Tycoon
Rollercoaster Tycoon

Those were all fantastic games back in the day. So much so that I played two of them again this year and the nostalgia was real.

Indeed. I can't see it working. At least not with the current rules.

Have you played the other Witcher games Smogsy? I'm struggling to get into 3, I'm stuck on a Golem I think it's called, some brick fisted guardion of a dimension or something. For me the 1 and 2 stories were better at the early stage I'm at.

If you dare play 1, google how to use the sword, it's counter intuitive combat wise and you need figure out what you're doing. Worth investing the time if your eyes don't mind older games

completed all three multiple times, Witcher 3 main story is not as "awesome" but the side quests are epic in their own right. Most Witcher 3 side quests are better than most main stories in other games.

for the golem use Dimeritium Bomb & Elementa Oil

got 475 hours in the witcher 3
