*** The official 2025 MacBook Air 13" and 15" thread (it has the M4 chip and everything!) ***

I’m considering getting an M4 MacBook Air (Base Spec - 13/16GB/256) for my girlfriend for Christmas.

Do you think it’s worth picking one up now on the Apple refurb store + 1.7% cashback or wait and see what happens with any Black Friday deals from other retailers?

Just an example I’ve seen via MacRumors is that the M4 MacBook Air is currently $749.99 on Amazon US.

Are we likely to see deals as good as that here in the UK?

Anyone seen any good Black Friday deals on the base spec M4 Air (13"/16GB/256SSD) yet?

I'm just wondering wither to just bite the bullet and order on the refurb store at £849.00?

Care to share? I don’t think OCUK sell MacBooks

The best two deals I found are from Costco and AO however both require membership to access the offer prices though.

Being self employed I went down the Costco route as that’s more beneficial to me long term. Trade Membership cost me £30 for the year but there is an online only membership available as well.

AO requires you join their membership program at £39.99 per year with the base spec 13” MacBook Air available for £764.

Costco gives you an 90 day return period plus an automatic 2 year warranty as well. AO gives you 100 day return but standard warranty but other member benefits as well.

Just comes down to what works for you.

Edit: @Jimbeam3678 If you're interested Costco now selling the base spec 13" MacBook Air for £759.99. I'm getting the difference automatically credited back to me once my order ships.

I’ve snapped one of these up from Amazon, just the base model as it’s all I need. I’m probably going to sell my M4 Pro Mac Mini as I found it a little bit annoying to have to unplug the thunderbolt cable from it each time I wanted to plug my work laptop in, and vice versa - whereas with a laptop it’s much easier as they just sit in the same place on the desk. I do have a Caldigit TB4 dock, but I like having a clutter free desk, and I literally don’t use any of the other ports on it.

So for some reason I've been considering changing my laptop to a mac. How do people deal with the low storage? Generally id upgrade my laptops nvme if needed. But the price difference between 256 and 512 is substantial and even 512 seems low.

It’s hard to explain but Macs are just different. In 11 years I never used up the 256gb on my old MacBook Air. My new one currently has about 80gb used and the rest free. A lot of stuff automatically goes to iCloud and the local device just stores thumbnails. If anyone ever needed to they could plug in a T7 shield or something.

I have a 2TB EX400U that stores videos files I’m working on. Otherwise the 512gb is plenty, even running a few VMs.

Network storage, cloud storage … not really much things are stored locally on my MacBook tbh, I got a 512Gb SSD and I still have like over 400Gb free. TBH I don’t really do any video or photo editing in my MacBook, just the usual browsing etc etc

Thinking of selling my M4 Mac Mini on and switching back to a laptop. I really don't do anything intensive, so I'm guessing there's no much point waiting for the M5 Air?
