***The Official ATI Radeon HD 5850 / 5870 Reviews and Discussion Thread***

Obviously it is, because it's wrong to expect a game you've paid for to work to its fullest if you bought from the wrong graphics card vendor!

You're right :(

I guess I should hand myself in to the police for fixing the oven-light spark on my new cooker as well.

They would be glad to get thieving scum like me off the streets. Technology should just be left alone, lest we violate someones patent.

calling it stealing is a laugh!! there stealing features from us more like! shouldnt be punished with a crippled game we payed for just because we didnt want to buy a nvidea card..

i can just see the police in ur area letting the murderer go that they just caught because they got a call that u fixed physics in batman and they have to come and arrest you. haha

Fixing broken technology is stealing now?
Attempts to hack your way into getting the extra effects without having bought the requisite cards isn't stealing now?

Don't do that, reducing in such an asinine way. Highly unclassy.

It's not wrong as in "right and wrong", but it is logically wrong; the PhysX deal was announced two months prior to the game's release. ATi users weren't tricked, and as I said before, should never have had any expectation of any PhysX, on any game, ever, in the first place.

There's no need for you to respond further, because there is just no disputing any of that. No retort, no comeback, beyond witlessly emotive "oh proprietary technologies are just so unfair" whining.

^Feel free to do so, I ain't your keeper. The factual win is mine though.

PhysX strength is that its the only GPU enable one in town ATM but its weakness is its compatibility with other hardware.
Both of those things will be addressed in good time with other offerings without the flawed limitations of compatibility.

Now lets get back to the real deal that is before us.. 5XXX.

That is not the argument. The argument is that Nvidia are deliberately crippling performance to totally artificially make GPU's appear superior to CPU's in terms of PhysX processing capabilities. If you're too blind to see that, enjoy your 'winning'.

It's quite amazing that people are moaning about Nvidia not letting them use home-fix workarounds on their patented technology; none of you should have any realistic expectation of being allowed access to something that you haven't paid for.

In blunt terms, you're attempting to steal. That's actually okay with me, I'm certainly not abhorred, it's just the "moral" outrage at Nvidia not facillitating your theft of their product that gets me. I mean, heh...

Oh go away, don't even start to try and relate that to stealing.
