Makes sense I guess, if you raise the player numbers then something has to give, not everyone has a beast PC, having said that common practice in competitive online shooters is to turn down the graphics as way of an advantage anyway. Lets face it, I'm here to shoot people not admire that the tables in the buildings have cosmetic details on them with full individual physics per coffee mug and pencil holder, I play Metro Exodus for that sort of thing :D

Have I missed a specialist? Theres 5 new ones in that video and 4 in beta, whats the 10th one?

Can't think what the specialist is called but I think your forgetting about the one voiced by the late Micheal Kenneth Williams.

Have to say the more they show of the game the more I don't want it. The newly announced specialist sound even worse than the already announced ones.

It's shame nobody at dice seems to know what a BF game is nowadays. Its been that long I doubt anyone who worked on bf1942 and bf2 etc still works at nice

Also the overlay looks just as obtrusive just instead of bright blue it's darker now.....

They're mostly long gone, I think Lars Gustavsson is literally the last one and he's more management than a dev these days.

Who doesn't want a specialist with a built in wall hack? :p

Quote from dice in a recent blog post.
"... we see Specialists as the next evolution of the classic Battlefield class system that will not only enable individual players to have a bigger impact, it will elevate teams that cooperate to newer heights,"

So they officially don't know how to make a bf game. Individual players aren't meant to have an impact, that's what team play is for!

Definately won't be getting get at launch. If I do buy it it will probably when the game is half price in the Xmas sales :p

I can sort of see what they are aiming for, they did mention that as you rank up you unlock additional specialist specific items, so I'll wait until I've seen what those are and what those items provide in terms of teamwork and specialist diversity before I make a final judgement on Specialists.

They still haven't said if it's possible for someone who wants to play as an Engineer to equip an Anti ground vehicle weapon and a repair torch for example. If you limit them to one or the other then what's the point in having an Engineer style loadout at all? No one will want to run a repair tool unless they're in a vehicle and then if that vehicle gets destroyed you have no Anti-Vehicle option except running up to it and trying to damage it.

It seems to be trying to do something new for the sake of it - the kind of system, maybe with a few tweaks, in BF3/4 is what people want who are Battlefield players.

Repair tool has been more or less replaced by magic vehicle regen to 100%

Sort of fits the gameworld though, given that I can take a direct hit from a tankshell and get blown to smithereens and then reappear intact and healthily alive again 20 seconds later :D

Big difference between respawning and a mechanic for vehicles becoming more or less obsolete as dice seemingly want to dumb the game down as much as they can. If anything it has the potential to make certain vehicles even more dominant as they no longer need to rely on engineers to repair them, they just run and hide for a few moments then back to 100%.
