played a few rounds on BF1 the difference in is mind boggling, not saying BF1 is great but sound Performance & everything was far superior.

I could hear footsteps!, Although 3090 let me play it on 4K on ultra with locked 120fps :D which was quite nice!

Isn’t BF1 had lots of patches, updates etc
LOL it is STILL BF1 sure it had hundreds of patches but doesnt make it any less BF1

you fanboys are crazy, i, dont get performance issues in BF2042 but what i cannot standard is UI being in tablet format with ui scaling. on a 48" its huge on pc

just because i said difference between bf1 bf2042 doesnt mean i am insulting it.

I have no problem with performance of 2042. I have simply reinstalled BF1 because a) I haven't played it in ages and b) 2042 is a total rubbish.

Didn’t say I was a fanboy chap just merely making a comment, work + 4 kids and a wife = a Thursday night gaming night for me (if I’m lucky) :)

I've been trying the 10 hour EA Play demo that comes with Xbox game pass. I was really tempted to buy this before I tried it as I loved Battlefield 2 back in the day, I poured thousands of hours into it and would love an updated Battlefield game to get into. Unfortunately this isn't it.

I can possibly get passed all of the guff with the 'characters' if the actual rest of the game, gunplay, maps etc. are fun to play but they just aren't. The game feels like it should have been in development another 6 months minimum. Problems I have run into in just an hour or so of playing are - unable to invert mouse control for turrets as a passenger in vehicles, joypad not working to control aircraft, joystick not working to control aircraft, being kicked back to the lobby after each match and having to requeue, no cover for infantry so you are either out in the open sprinting or pinned behind a hill. It seems the only thing that remains from BF2 is the tortourus interface for binding controls. Why are there 6-7 places where you have to set 'invert mouselook' and it still doesn't work in turrets?!

With all of that, I am finding the design choices (childish specialists, emoticons at the end of matches) and the maps very bland.

It doesn't feel anything like Battlefield 2 did.

The game isn't even on par graphically with bfv which is a 3 year old game now, not sure what game you're playing that looks so good. Even geometry and textures on some levels are a massive downgrade.

I've found that even thought the graphics are very crisp, the overall art direction is glossy, cartoony, and bland which leads overall to a poor graphical experience.

Was going to give it another try tonight, see if I can wring some enjoyment out of it, but nope... Don't even get past the loading screen now:

Got in eventually, and unfortunately I didn't manage to wring any enjoyment out of it. It's just not a BF game. Damn shame really. I might come back to it next year, but I have the feeling that for whatever reason, be it inexperience or outside influence, that the team who made this is just bad at making games, so I don't imagine much will change for the better.

Only played it today and basically i hate it. BFV has better gameplay, graphics etc. 2042 is like playing a game from 20 years ago like Delta force.....gutted, waited ages for this and its crap!!! Bf1 and BF3 was awesome, but this just sucks

Most of the team that even made BF3 & 4 have left. Some of the stories about the micromanagement and decisions made by Senior staff boggle the mind. Everything is surveys and marketing directing development.
