Only just bought one myself so, any experienced users please feel free to share some tips, apps or anything else relating to the Playbook.

Facebook was already installed :-) and it's an actual app, whereas the Twitter "app" is just a shortcut the twitter web site (mobile version)

pheww well thanks for confirming that :D
just received an email saying that my playbook has been shipped
should get here friday or saturday.
one more thing, does AppWrold have games like, word search, hangman, crosswords etc?

that didnt even cross my mind -.-

The one thing I will say is that I had trouble on the first setup of my PlayBook where it wouldn't connect to the update server after a bit of a Google I found you could do it via a pc. Also had a problem displaying the blackberry id agreement but after a few tries it worked and I haven't had a problems since.

I bought a 64GB one of these last week due to the ridiculous sale price, despite never having been that interested in the tablet format before. I had always considered tablets to be overpriced toys in many respects, and still do for the vast majority on the market. However, the Playbook is my first impulse buy in ages and I have to say that I have been very pleasantly suprised by just how useful the device is. The build quality is excellent, although I suppose that's to be expected considering the original price point. I know that when released the Playbook was severely lacking in the software department but it has been updated quite extensively by RIM, so I feel like I have received the originally planned user experience for a bargain bin price.

Internet surfing is very comfortable and fluid, not to rival my desktop but perfect for sofa browsing. The browser is the most standards compliant of any tablet system so I have yet to come across any websites that don't function other than those based on Silverlight. So no Netflix or Outlook sites, unfortunately.

The included apps are: some social networking apps (I don't use); a functional document and excel viewer/editor; multimedia apps for music and video; and email, calendar and contacts. The App World store doesn't have as large a selection as the Android and Apple markets, but to be honest I only really wanted the device for it's built-in capabilities so anything else is just an added bonus. I did download a radio streamer and a couple of free games that come as a bonus to current purchasers.

I'll give the Playbook a good workout over the next few weeks and report back any serious shortfalls I come up against. So far, though, I'm very happy with the purchase and am looking forward to the free upgrade to BB10 OS when it is released around first quarter 2013.

Was looking at these in store earlier and really liked how smooth and well built it was. Going to buy one for the gf tomorrow but just wondering how good the Facebook and twitter apps are as she'll mainly be using them more than anything.

Also does the hdmi only mirror movies or everything you do on it?

I love mine, got it last weekend. The bezels being touch sensitive was a true stroke of genius and is far and away the best design call any manufacturer has made on any tablet so far. Didn't even realise the playbook had them when I bought it, just figured it's a good tablet, all the huge flaws at release have been fixed, and I'm mostly using it as a media tab so the 64Gb at £130 was great. They should have advertised that more, imo. Everybody who's tried it since I bought it has loved the touchy-feely bezels. Lovely build quality as well

Flash in the browser is still a massive boon for the moment, and everything runs nicely.

I have a couple of qualms but nothing's that stopped me being incredibly happy with my purchase:
The AppWorld app is a bit stuttery, which isn't great given it's one of the key parts of the OS.
The error notification red glow doesn't always explain what it's found a problem with - it just glows red and makes you get rid of it e.g. clicking the messages icon.
Typical Blackberry 5 minute startup can be somewhat irritating
No skype or kindle support. Kobo will do just fine, if a little bit buggy, but skype's omission (video chat) is definitely irritating.

^^ Only if you sideload them and Amazon kicked up a fuss when the .bar repackaged files were put up on the net. I can't imagine it would be any less buggy than Kobo tbh.

I originally bought the 16GB version for £129 a few weeks ago (when the 64GB was still £250). However, when I spotted the 64 available for 129 i sold my 16 to my sister and upgraded to the 64.

Like someone has already said, I wasn't particularly interested in a tablet and was put off by the prices. However, I decided to take a punt on the PlayBook and I'm so glad I did. It's an amazing bit of kit for the money, and I've managed to put ALL of my photos and videos on it with room to spare.

The build quality is excellent - it feels really solid, the screen is sharp and clear and the speakers are surprisingly good. I don't use apps other than Facebook, so the lack of software available doesn't bother me. The built in browser is superb and works smoothly, even when playing back 1080p video. I just got the official leather journal case for mine and it looks really good. I particularly like the smaller form factor - I travel to my girlfriend's and parents home very regularly and it's nice to be able to leave the laptop behind and just throw this in my rucksack, knowing that I'll have access to most of the things I need for a few days. After three or four weeks, I'd say it gets used as frequently as my laptop, which I really wasn't expecting.

So overall I'm really happy with it - probably one of the best bargains I've found recently. I still can't believe you can get a 64GB PlayBook for £129!! :D
